(Clearwisdom.net) The building on the left by the second gate of Nanjing Woman's Prison in Jiangsu Province is the so-called "meeting building," which is propagandized as the warm place for detainees to see their families. However, it is also a place used to torture Falun Gong practitioners who are isolated there.

The guards and staff from the 610 offices all over the province have instigated criminals they could depend on to beat and abuse Falun Gong practitioners and to force them to crawl on the floor. In addition, Falun Gong practitioners are deprived of sleep for periods varying from a dozen days up to a couple of months. When they fall asleep while standing, they have cold water poured on them. To prevent Falun Gong practitioners from sitting on the floor, the floor was posted with Teacher's photos, or the floor was made wet. What is worse, Falun Gong practitioners confined in the meeting building are forbidden to take a shower in summer and are not allowed to put on additional clothing in winter. Otherwise, the criminal inmates who are designated to watch Falun Gong practitioners will be punished. This causes hatred to be incited toward Falun Gong practitioners.

Wang Xiurong, a Falun Gong practitioner in her sixties from Jiuli District, Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province was arrested in 2003 and sentenced to five years of imprisonment. She was transferred to No. 4 Area, Nanjing Woman's Prison in May 2004, where they tried to force her to renounce her belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance"-- but she refused. At the end of 2004, Ms. Wang was abused with all kinds of torture, and she was isolated from other detainees in the Meeting Building. She was not allowed to see her family, to sleep, or to use the restroom. She was frequently tortured by guards using electric batons and was force-fed with a hot pepper solution.

Almost all of the Falun Gong practitioners abducted into Nanjing Woman's Prison who still persist in their belief after being deceived and threatened by prison authorities will be isolated in the Meeting Building for torture. This is especially true for those steadfast Falun Gong practitioners who have only one year left to serve on their term.

When Falun Gong practitioners complained that what the authorities were doing was illegal, a guard responded: "What can you do to me if it is illegal? Accuse me? Nobody will take your case in China. It doesn't work even in the United Nations." The criminal who was designated to monitor Falun Gong practitioners said, "I am afraid I cannot provide testimony for you until the persecution of Falun Gong is overturned."

All of the detainees in Nanjing Woman's Prison are forced to do labor for seventeen to eighteen hours a day, except some old and weak detainees who are allowed to return to their ward after twelve hours of work starting early in the morning.

Beginning in 2005, the prison authorities set a stricter policy on the water supply, and the usual two washbasins of water every day was reduced to only one washbasin of water for washing the face, showering and washing clothes. Nanjing is famous for its muggy summer weather, but it is rich in water resources. Apparently this is another punishment in disguise.

Two other Falun Gong practitioners are also being persecuted in Nanjing Woman Prison: Wang Houling and Jiang Meixia. Both are in their sixties.
