Debunking CCTV's Lie about "Killing Parents"

(Clearwisdom.net) On a Friday in late March 1999, Chengde Radio Station in Hebei Province broadcast a report called "Li Tingting Killed Her Parents with a Steel Knife." In this report, the Communist controlled station fabricated charges against Falun Gong. People familiar with this incident all knew that Li Tingting had suffered melancholia since childhood. She dropped out of Chengde No. 2 Middle School because of her condition. Her parents took care of her at home. All of Li's parents' neighbors, relatives, friends, and coworkers knew that Li killed them in the throes of her mental disorder. Li Tingting had never practiced Falun Gong and knew nothing about the exercises.

After hearing about this incident on the radio, two Falun Gong practitioners went to the editorial department to clarify the facts on Saturday night. The editors agreed to hold the article that was about to be published, but it had already been sent to the provincial editorial department. Practitioners contacted the journalist there right away and the report was finally quashed. Practitioners also went to the radio station the same night to clarify that the report distorted the actual situation. Their efforts brought this damaging incident under control.

Next Monday morning, practitioners went to the Public Security Bureau (the original source of the report) to clarify the facts. The head of the Public Security Bureau asked his secretary to meet with the practitioners on his behalf. They told the secretary that the incident was caused by Li Tingting's mental disorder and that it had nothing to do with Falun Gong. They also told the political commissar, Meng Qingguo, and deputy political commissar, Chen Fengbo, the facts. The political commissar said, "This matter will not go any further." Meng Qingguo also said, "To redeem your reputation, you can write a positive report about Falun Gong in Chengde, and we will broadcast your article on the Chengde radio station."

After this oral agreement, Falun Gong practitioners had their report "Falun Dafa in Chengde" broadcast on Chengde Radio Station.

On July 20, 1999, the large scale persecution of Falun Gong began, and CCTV continuously slandered Falun Dafa. The story of a demented person was put in the limelight again to incite hatred against Falun Gong. One or two CCP members rekindled this fabricated story and reported it to CCTV. The broadcasting of this slanderous report deceived many people.

This is an old trick the CCP has used in its various political movements. It was not surprising that Falun Gong practitioners were reported as "besieging" the Public Security Bureau, when they only peacefully clarified the facts.

Now more and more people are learning the truth. Evil will meet with retribution: Li Wenqi, the director of the District Public Security Bureau and the person who fabricated this incident, died of lung cancer in June 2004. The political commissar of the Public Security Bureau, Meng Qingguo, died suddenly in the Spring of 2000.
