Sixty-Year-Old Practitioner Forced to become Homeless after Asking for a Fellow Practitioner's Release from Labor Camp (Hunan Province)

(Clearwisdom.net) I am from Shimen County, Changde City, Hunan Province. I am almost 60 years old. My friend Zhu Guilin practices Falun Gong. She was detained in Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City. Her two-and-a-half-year term ended April 8. On April 9, I went to the labor camp with Zhu Guilin's mother, brother, and sisters to take her back home.

Finally we saw Zhu Guilin! All of us cried. Zhu Guilin had been so young and pretty, but now she was as thin as a stick, barely able to stand, and with wounds all over her! In these two and a half years, what kind of life has she led? Tears kept rolling down my face. I could not let her stay one more day in this hell. We had to take her home!

Ms. Zhu's brother, sister, and I went to the administration office to go through the release procedure. Unexpectedly, the police said, "Zhu Guilin is stubborn and refuses to be "transformed." Her term is extended for three months. She cannot go home now."

While we were in the office, several guards hurt Ms. Zhu's mother and sisters with the excuse that they "cried too loudly." Her 70-year-old mother was dragged and pushed to the ground and almost passed out. Her sister was dragged downstairs and left at the gate. Her clothes were torn and she was injured.

What the labor camp officials did filled other visitors with indignation. Someone cried out, "Your labor camp claims to execute the law with civility, but you are not civilized at all!" This made all the visitors more worried about their detained family members, since, if the guards were this violent with visitors in public, what were the prisoners inside the jail facing?

We should not let the authorities be so savage! We five persons discussed it and decided, no matter what, we must insist that the labor camp release Zhu Guilin. We settled down in a hotel and kept going to the labor camp to ask the staff to release her every day. On the morning of April 12, when we went to Baimalong Forced Labor Camp again, the guards detained us illegally and searched us. Ms. Zhu's brother and sister were tortured by being hung up and handcuffed and having their bodies pressed down and their legs forced apart at a 180 degree angle. We were detained in Zhuzhou Detention Center for 14 days.

After we went home on the morning of May 15, local police officers came to my home and told me to go to a rest house to participate in a "study class." These so-called "study classes" are all over the country. They are actually brainwashing centers especially for Falun Gong practitioners. After arriving there, you must write a guarantee statement, making a promise to stop practicing Falun Gong. Otherwise you will be detained indefinitely or be sent to a labor camp.

I said I would not go. The police said that their superiors had assigned them a quota of three and that I had to go whether I wanted to or not. I knew I could not reason with these people. I left home, taking advantage of their carelessness, and went far away.

After that, the local 610 Office agents and policemen went to search for me everywhere. The head of the local state security department, Jia Zhenhan, even went to my home to try to force my family to find me and ask me to turn in other practitioners. He even said to my family, "If a Falun Gong practitioner comes to your home, you can kill him. If you kill him, we will not charge you."
