Ms. Guo Wenying Sentenced to Prison - Unable to Care for Sick Husband


(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Guo Wenying, 53, lived in the Qilihe District of Lanzhou City, Gansu Province. Her husband Liu Zhilai worked at the Lanxi Locomotive Service Section. They lived at No. 102, Unit 3, Building 2 in the Runan Neighborhood District, West Station, in Lanzhou City.

Officers from the Lintao County Police Department arrested Ms. Guo and her husband at about noon on September 27, 2002 and took them to the police department. Their 18-year-old son decided to leave home and live on the streets to avoid persecution. Mr. Liu Zhilai was taken to the Lintao County Detention Center. The authorities waited for two days before telling his workplace to take him back.

Ms. Guo was held at the same detention center, where she was brutally tortured and nearly died. Lintao County Court agents illegally sentenced her to six years in prison in 2003. She was subsequently sent to Division 6 at the Gansu Province Women's Prison.

Mr. Liu fell ill after he returned home and he cannot take care of himself. His wife is imprisoned, so there is no one to take care of him.
