Practitioner Mr. Wang Gang from Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province Facing Loss of His Leg Due to Torture - Family Visits Denied

(Clearwisdom.net) As a result of torture administered by Baoding City Prison officials, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Gang of Matou Town, Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province was disabled. His wife and other family members went to visit him on June 7, 2007, according to the time scheduled with the prison visitation office on May 24, but their visit was denied.

Mr. Wang's wife, mother-in-law, brother and sister, and others spoke with the receptionist and explained the details. A supervisor surnamed Li refuse to let them visit because they had no visiting pass.

The family members again explained that they had received a message that Wang Gang faced amputation of one leg as a result of gross abuse in prison. They wanted to confirm that the message was genuine and hoped the authorities could provide some help. An official equipped with a camcorder arrived and introduced himself as being from the Prison Affairs Section. He filmed the family members, but the answer still was "No visit." He said that Wang Gang was not "reformed," so he could not have visitors.

Mr. Wang's family requested that even if the prison didn't allow a regular visit, could they just allow Wang Gang to walk in front of the family to see whether Wang Gang's leg was all right.

It was past 11:00 a.m. by then, and the Prison Affairs Section official said, "You can come back at 1:30 p.m. when our office is open." He left quickly.

The family members returned at 1:30 p.m. to speak with the person in charge of the Prison Affairs Section. The prison guard told them to come back at 2:30 p.m. But at 2:30 p.m. Prison Affairs Section personnel still did not accommodate the family's request.

Mr. Wang's family then demanded to speak with the prison leaders. The person in charge of guarding the doors then went to find Song Zhigang and others from the Prison Affairs Section and from Division 4 to meet the family members at the west gate to resolve the problem. Song Zhigang checked the family members and the vehicle they rode in and then went to the Production Division to speak with them. After several hours of interaction, the family members asked for written documentation, but the prison authorities refused and insisted that the family members could not see Mr. Wang until he was "reformed." They stated that Wang Gang shouts three times a day, "Falun Dafa is good!"

This frustrating turn of events lasted until 6:00 p.m. that day, when Wang Gang's family had to leave in great disappointment.

Wang Gang, a farmer, has been detained since 2003, for over five years, only for wanting to be a good person. This strong, middle-aged man has been so grossly abused that he has become disabled and is facing amputation of one of his legs. He is still in Baoding Prison for the simple reason that he practices Falun Gong.
