Zhang Wenliang Sentenced to Forced Labor by Qingdao City Police in Shandong Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Zhang Wenliang, resident of Dongying Village, Jingzhi Township, Anqiu City, Shandong Province, was arrested on May 10, 2007, at his younger sister's home while he was installing a satellite TV antenna. He was detained in the Qingdao City Second Detention Center and has been sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor in the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City.

In May, Qingdao City Police, together with Anqiu City Police, went to Zhang Wenliang's home and confiscated his property, including his sister's and three of his parents' satellite TV receivers, a TV set, various tools, and Falun Gong books. The value of the confiscated items is over 4,000 yuan.

Mr. Zhang is known for being hardworking and always willing to help others. He had experienced both physical and spiritual improvements after he started practicing Falun Gong.

After July 20, 1999, when the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong, Zhang Wenliang appealed to all levels of government authorities on behalf of Falun Gong and to help rescue fellow practitioners in prison. He also went to Beijing several times to appeal for an end to the persecution and to distribute materials exposing the persecution and promoting Falun Gong. He was arrested at the end of 2000. After he was released on bail and awaiting trial, he and his wife, Zhao Hui, left home to avoid further persecution.

During their days of homelessness, Zhang Wenliang was arrested and sent to a detention center on five occasions. He was brutally persecuted while detained in Anqiu City, Weifang City, Qingdao City, Beijing, and Kunming City for nearly four years. He continued to lodge appeals, but his appeals have fallen on deaf ears.
