Ms. Chen Meifang, a school teacher, told her experience of being deported. Everyone was deeply touched.

Among those attending the press conference were Legislator Sandy Yen, an Assistant to Legislator Chiang Yi-Hsiung, City Councilor Che Hsing-chih, City Councilor Tsai Wen-hsu, City Government Senator Lai Wan-jen and human rights lawyer Dzeng Jin-ywan. All attendees of the press conference collectively condemned the CCP's manipulation of the Hong Kong government for violently deporting Taiwanese citizens and trampling on human rights. Legislator Sandy Yen exclaimed, "Don't cherish any illusions about the CCP."

The host of the conference, Professor Ai Changrui of National Chung Cheng University, said, "More than five hundred innocent Taiwanese people were violently deported by the Hong Kong government from June 24 to July 1. It was the most extensive deportation incident in Hong Kong's history. Today's press conference aims to expose the incident and call for condemnation of the human rights violations of the Hong Kong government."

A video of the deportation was played at the press conference. Ms. Chen Meifang, a high school teacher, and Mr. Tsai Shanghai, a retired teacher, told their personal experience of being deported.

Ms. Chen said, "We were stopped as soon as we got off the plane. My passport was confiscated. Six policemen took me to a detention room. I lost my freedom completely. I wasn't even allowed to close the door when using the restroom." Mr. Tsai said, "I had never experienced anything like this on any trip. We were separated into groups of twenty as soon as we got off the plane. The airport guards were heavily armed. More than one hundred people were taken to an underground facility as soon as we landed. Everyone, including monks, were searched. Innocent passengers were treated like hijackers."

City Councilor Che Hsing-chih said Hong Kong had experienced a retrogression with respect to human right since its return to China. We should know the nature of the CCP. She said she might be on the blacklist too.

City Councilor Tsai Wen-hsu said, "From what the two teachers said about the deportation, I think the human rights condition in Hong Kong has definitely gone backward. The Hong Kong government treated Falun Gong practitioners brutally and deported them. What is the CCP afraid of? Falun Gong practitioners in China have been imprisoned and tortured. Even more horrible is the organ harvesting from living practitioners." Mr. Tsai said he would stand on the side of Falun Gong to fight for human rights.

Legislator Sandy Yen said that even after the organ harvesting and the violent deportations were exposed, some people still had illusions about the CCP. She said the Vice President had expressed her concern when she was in transit to San Francisco.

A Senator of the Chiayi City Government, Lai Wan-jen, said it was a major incident when Taiwanese entering Hong Kong with legal documents were deported. Unfortunately the media didn't pay much attention under the CCP's pressure. He expressed his strong protest against the Hong Kong government. The unfair treatment of Taiwanese and the denial of their human rights should be exposed. He expressed his support for the practitioners on behalf of the city government.

Human rights lawyer Dzeng Jin-ywan said he had submitted a proposal to condemn the CCP's manipulation of the deportation incident at a meeting of the Chiayi City Lawyers Association. He also suggested bringing the incident before international humans rights organizations and let the world know about this mistake by the Hong Kong government.

Mr. Chen Changhui, a retired colonel said his late-stage cancer was cured by practicing Falun Gong. He hoped the President could make his voice heard on behalf of Falun Gong practitioners and the Taiwanese people, and ask the Hong Kong government to apologize to the Taiwanese.

Reporters from major media including China Times, United Daily, Apple Daily, China Daily, Mandarin Daily, Master Times and Chia-le Radio attended the press conference. United Daily, China Daily and C3 Chiayi News filed reports on the press conference the next day.
