(Clearwisdom.net) Practitioners Qi Fangwei, Song Wenju, and Lu Huaping from Liwu Town, Lixian County, Hebei Province, went to Beijing. They went there to appeal for justice and clarify the facts to people on December 18, 2000, of the Chinese lunar calendar. They held a banner high above their heads and loudly called out, "Falun Dafa is good! Falun Dafa is a righteous way! Restore our Master's reputation!" Police hurried over, grabbed their banner, and put them into a police car. The practitioners were taken to the Tiananmen Square Police Station, which was filled with Falun Gong practitioners. They were held there for one day, had no food, and were forced to pay 100 yuan for a damp blanket. That evening the authorities transferred them to the Beijing Garrison Area. The practitioners refused to tell their names. The police issued them numbers. They staged a hunger strike to protest. The police stripped them naked and poured cold water on them.

Personnel from the Liwu Town Police Station and Caozhuang Village head Wu Xinru escorted the practitioners back to the local detention center on the fifth day. The police driver suggested confiscating all their money on the way back. They did not let the practitioners eat after their arrival. They interrogated the practitioners that same night and made them pay 50 yuan per day as a so-called "reform" fee and threatened to hold them indefinitely if they would not pay.

Zhu Suoshuan refused to release Lu Huaping, saying he felt frightened whenever he heard her name and he wouldn't release her until the National People's Congress meeting was over. Zhu had practitioners paraded on the street with signs hanging from their necks that read, "Counter-revolutionary" to publicly humiliate them. Later on they incarcerated her at the county detention center for more than four months. Detention Center guard Liu Yanjun whipped practitioners with a lash.
