In A Few Words: About Journey to the West

(Clearwisdom.net) People of various ages like to read Journey to the West. I believe everything has a side to it that is not obvious to average people, and Journey to the West is no exception.

In that play, Xuanzhuang encounters disasters over and over again, and in the end, he attains enlightenment. Each time Xuanzhuang was abducted by demons and faced danger, regardless of how difficult or dangerous the situation was, his righteous belief in Buddhism and seeking the scriptures was never shaken. It was exactly because of his unshakable heart that the danger dissipated each time.

Sun Wukong was Xuanzhuang's first disciple, who once caused the Havoc in Heaven. His self-proclaimed titles are the "Monkey King" and "Great Sage Equal to Heaven." He finally became a Buddhist and devoted his all to rescuing Xuanzhuang each time Xuanzhuang was put in danger or stolen away. It is precisely due to his steadfastness while inside the evil's den, along with the collective efforts of others outside the evil's den, that Xuanzhuang and his disciples achieved Consummation.
