Mr. Liu Wenwei in Shanghai Sentenced to Prison For His Beliefs
(Clearwisdom.net) In June 2006, prior to the Six Summit (a summit between
China, Russia and Central Asian countries), the Huangpu District Police Station
instructed the local housing authorities and three plainclothes policemen to
monitor practitioner Mr. Liu Wenwei at the alley entrance. On the morning of
June 12, Mr. Liu was removing slanderous posters about Falun Dafa. At around
11:30 in the morning, the three plainclothes policemen broke in the door of his
house and called the 610 Office. Later, about five people claiming
to be authorities from the National Security Bureau rushed in. Mr. Liu shouted,
"Falun Dafa is good!" He was taken to the police station without any
legal proceedings. Mr. Liu went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution that lasted for
three months. During that time, the 610 Office of the Huangpu District asked the
Procuratorate to try his case. The court rejected the case on the
grounds of insufficient evidence. It rejected the case multiple times. The 610
Office presides over the local court. After six months of Mr. Liu being on a
hunger strike, the 610 Office illegally sentenced him to eight
months of imprisonment. Mr. Liu was at Shanghai Tilanqiao Hospital the entire
time that the 610 Office tried to indict him. Mr. Liu, 38 years old, learned Falun Dafa in 1996. He benefited tremendously.
He had gone to Beijing twice to appeal for Falun Dafa since the persecution
began in 1999. He was jailed over a month while appealing in Beijing. After he
returned to Shanghai, the local police officers would not leave him alone. They
illegally kept him under surveillance. In January 2000, he was sent to Dafeng
Forced Labor Camp, Jiangsu Province, for two years. He was put under strict
monitoring for practicing the Falun Gong exercises. His mother has spent much effort to find out what happened to him. She became
ill for over three months from worrying about him. July 6, 2007
