Editors' Note: In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The universe will reward actions that are in harmony with this principle, while actions such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution.

Yue Jiling, female, is from the Boshan District of Zibo City and is the head of the 610 Office in Zibo City. She relentlessly and inhumanly persecuted Dafa practitioners who were under illegal arrest, and cruelly intimidated and deceived them. She closely followed Jiang Zemin's order to "destroy them physically, bankrupt them financially" in her persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Yue took practitioners to brainwashing centers, where she forced them to pay 100 yuan or more each day, despite the fact that the practitioners were already impoverished.

Yue suffered from a uterine tumor, for which she had surgery in secret to remove her entire uterus.

In April 2000, many practitioners from the Tobacco Factory of Bengbu City went to Beijing to peacefully appeal for justice for Falun Gong out of their belief in the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. Qiao Zonghua, female, the secretary of the Discipline and Inspection Committee of the factory, personally prevented practitioners from going to Beijing. After taking these practitioners back to Bengbu City from Beijing, she fired six of them and then suspended the pension of two retired workers because they remained firm in their cultivation of Falun Gong. Following that, Qiao always created difficulties for practitioners who went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong by firing them or suspending their salaries.

Worst of all, during the 2001 Chinese New Year, Qiao initiated a movement against Falun Gong in the factory by forcing every employee, including the retired ones, to sign their names to denounce Dafa. Thousands of people were forced into committing crimes against Dafa.

Qiao committed these crimes despite the fact that she knew the truth about Dafa and Dafa practitioners. Many practitioners had been ill before practicing and had led lives of great suffering. Some had had bad hobbies and brought great sufferings to their families and losses to the factory. After they started cultivating, however, they started to behave strictly according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance and underwent miraculous changes. The ill ones recovered rapidly from their illnesses and became strong. They used to be the objects of special care at the factory, but after practicing they could move huge 100 kg boxes. Those with bad hobbies started to behave themselves and to pleasantly undertake heavy tasks without complaint. It was because of witnessing all of these brilliant changes that many employees of the factory, including some Communist Party members, started to practice Falun Gong. Many people who knew about Dafa but did not practice it also highly praised its mighty virtue.

Then why did Qiao, knowing the fundamental truth about Dafa, choose to act against Dafa and persecute practitioners? She received orders to persecute Falun Gong from city authorities in the general stage of the persecution of Falun Gong in China, but she herself should be held accountable for her part in the persecution. In China, there have been many political movements in which one has been pressured to persecute others. However, no mater how intense the pressure can be, one always has the free will to spare others out of conscience. That is what many people are doing all over China. However, Qiao chose to assist the Communist Party by actively persecuting practitioners for their righteous belief.

Qiao Zonghua may not believe in karmic retribution, but the heavenly principle of karmic retribution holds forever and is not negotiable by human notions. Qiao had to have surgery due to cancer twice in four months.

Yan Xiaobing was the former deputy chief of the police department of Tianmen City and the head of the 610 Office of the city. He has actively persecuted practitioners. Last year, Yan's wife discovered that he had committed adultery and went to his office to expose him, ruining his reputation. Afterwards, his wife and his son deserted him and he was transferred to an inferior post. Because he was unwilling to accept the new post, he had to retire.

Yan had had many chances to read truth-clarification materials about Dafa, but he persisted in the persecution for the sake of his career. He therefore received karmic retribution for his actions.
