Several Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in Boli County, Qitaihe City of Heilongjiang Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Recently the following Falun Gong practitioners in Boli County, Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province were arrested and illegally sentenced to forced labor camps: Ms. Gao Shuhua (44 years old), Mr. Bian Jing (20 years old), Mr. Bian Baoli (43 years old), Ms. Li Shuqin (43 years old), and Chu Wenquan (43 years old).

At 2:00 p.m. on April 17, 2007, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Bian Jing was arrested at the home of practitioner Ms. Gao Shuhua by police from the Qinqi Police Station of the Boli County Police Department. Ms. Gao lost consciousness during the arrest and was sent to the county hospital. On April 25, Ms. Gao was able to escape. Mr. Bian Jing was beaten with a belt and an electric baton by State Security Unit Deputy Commander Bai Yugang, Zhang Qihua and Zhang Qunsheng.

On April 17, 2007 at around 6:00 p.m., 19 officers from the Qitaihe City Police Department, the State Security Unit of the Boli County Police Department, Qinqi Police Station, and Yuanming Police Station went to Mr. Bian Jing's home. Policeman Shi Wanqin used Mr. Bian's key and raided his home without a warrant. The officers confiscated Dafa books, audio and video tapes, Mr. Bian Jing's ID and his father Bian Baoli's ID. At 8:00 p.m. Mr. Bian Baoli was arrested and taken to Boli County Detention Center, where he was tortured for 2 days. Several policemen held Mr. Bian Jing's hands as they forced him to sign falsified documents and comply with finger printing.

At around 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. on April 25, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gao Shuhua escaped from the hospital, triggering a massive police manhunt. Yuanming Police Station Director Yu Wendong and policeman Han Yingchun ransacked Mr. Bian Jing's grandmother's home using the excuse of looking for Ms. Gao Shuhua. They found a bedroom in the home that was locked, so they called policemen Shi Wanxin, Bai Yugang and others. Shi Wanqin called a technician to come and open the lock. When they saw a computer in the room, they called upon Gao Yunjun, Bi Honghai and others to confiscate the computer and other materials belonging to Mr. Bian Jing's aunt.

On April 30 at 11:00 a.m., Mr. Bian Baoli and his son Bian Jing were transferred to the Boli County Detention Center. On April 30 between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m., policemen Shi Wanxin and Bai Yugang deceived Mr. Bian Jing's grandmother into opening the door and conducted a second search of the premises. Shi Wanxin said, "Bian Jing says there is a computer disk on top of a bureau." But the home did not have any bureau. Then policeman Shi Wanxin called Boli County Detention Center and forced Mr. Bian Jing onto the phone to say that the disc was on the bureau. Mr. Bian Jing's grandmother said that she did not know where this disc may be and perhaps it was thrown away. So the two policemen searched under the bed for awhile and after finding nothing, they left. Later on, it became known that when Shi Wanxin called Bian Jing at the Xinhua Police Station, policemen Yu Lizhi and Cao Xu threatened him with an electric baton and forced him to speak on the phone.

In Mr. Bian Baoli's family, only his wife was employed. Now, under pressure from the City and County Politics and Law Committee of the 610 Office, her work unit used the job to threaten them to give up Falun Gong. The grandmother is 76 years old and suffers from high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, diabetes, and rheumatism. After her son and grandson were illegally arrested, detained and sentenced to forced labor, she suffered a mental breakdown.

On the night of April 17, practitioner Li Shuqin was also arrested.

On May 9, Falun Gong practitioner Chu Wenquan was arrested on his way home from work. His daughter was left at home unattended. His daughter was a freshman in high school and maintained very good grades. On May 9, when policeman Gao Yunjun ransacked Chu Wenquan's home, they confiscated 1,000 yuan, the only money the family had for living expenses. Policeman Gao Yunjun declared that Falun Gong practitioners do not deserve to have anything to eat and then left.

On July 26, Bian Baoli, Bian Jing, Chu Wenquan and Li Shuqin were illegally sentenced to one and a half years in a forced labor camp. On July 28 at 4:50 a.m., they, along with another female practitioner from Qitaihe City, were transferred to the Harbin Drug Rehab Center and Suihua Forced Labor Camp.
