By a Falun Dafa practitioner from Shandong Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen Anrui lived in Quanhe Village, Baoquan Town, Anqiu City, Weifang District, in Shandong Province. On August 3, 2006, he died while trying to rescue two elementary school students who were drowning in a water reservoir. Mr. Chen was 65.

For a long period of time Chen Anrui was persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party and local policemen for insisting in his belief of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance". He was subjected to repeatedly having his house ransacked, being arrested, sent to detention centers, subjected to forced brainwashings, and torture. Over the years, Chen Anrui was illegally fined a total of 7,000 yuan.

Chen Anrui started to practice Falun Gong in 1998 and gained tremendous physical and mental benefits. On July 20, 1999, the CCP began to persecute Falun Gong. In July 2000, Chen Anrui went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. After that, his daughter also went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. When she was in Jinan City, she was illegally stopped, escorted back, and detained in the police station of Baoquan Town. When Chen Anrui went to the police station to request a release for his daughter, he was also arrested. After extorting 2,000 yuan from their family, the police released them both.

On March 11, 2005, Chen Anrui was arrested by four policemen from Anqiu City and Baoquan Town, and his home was ransacked. He was detained in the Anqiu City Detention Center for more than twenty days. During that period, he was tortured by guards for the purpose of extracting confessions, and he was also subjected to forced brainwashings. After the police extorted 5,000 yuan from his family, Chen Anrui was released.

After his release from the detention center, both his mental and physical health were damaged. He was absent-minded, skinny, and weak physically. After several months he slowly recovered. He solemnly declared on the Minghui website that all of his words and deeds while under duress from the persecution were against his will, and that they were annulled.

On August 3, 2006, two elementary students from Quanhe Village were taking baths in the Quanhe Reservoir. They accidentally slipped into a deep region of the reservoir and started to drown. Chen Anrui did his best to rescue them. He pushed the two students ashore, and after he finished pushing the second one to shore, he was unable to make it up himself due to complete exhaustion and drowned.
