Xu Guangshi, Former Deputy Mayor of Yanji City, Jilin Province Meets with Retribution

Xu Guangshi was appointed to be the Director of Education Commission, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Director of People Congress in Yanji City, Jilin Province. When he was in office from 1999 to 2002, Xu Guangshi carried out the policies of persecuting Falun Gong. He participated in brainwashing Falun Gong practitioners and editing anti-Falun Gong teaching materials and brochures. Moreover, he organized activities collecting signatures that slandered Falun Gong and made a lot of middle-school students and pupils sign their names. He also organized the Picture Exhibition in Yanji City to slander Falun Gong and poison people's minds.

At around 10:00 p.m. of February 27, 2007, Xu Guangshi died suddenly in his own garage. He was 53 years old when he died.

Director of People's Congress in Laixi City, Qingdao, Shandong Province Suffers Retribution

Zhang Jiguang, 53, worked in Malianzhuang Township Government in Laixi City from 1999 to 2004. As director of the People's Congress of Malianzhuang Township since July 20, 1999, Zhang Jiguang savagely persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. He confined a lot of practitioners in a garage, not allowing them to go out, eat, or even use the toilet. He brashly stated that he could not let pass anyone who stood in his way. Although practitioners clarified the facts to him, he did not accept what they said and remained hostile toward Falun Gong.

In 2005, he was transferred to work in Laixi City Birth Control Commission. He was unsatisfied with his new work, and suspected that his wife was having an affair with someone. He was even paranoid that people around him would murder him. He was depressed. Just before the New Year this year, he cut open his stomach and chest and disemboweled himself. When he saw that he was still alive he cut his neck and soon there was blood all over the floor. His family found him and rushed him to the hospital. Despite being alive, Zhang Jiguang was half dead. Soon after New Year's Day, he had a second operation for anal fistula. After he left the hospital, his family took care of him. On July 6, he lied to his family that he was going to visit some friends, but he did not return. He was found dead in a scrapheap in Lijiatuan. He had committed suicide by overdosing on drugs.
