On August 20, 2001, Falun Gong practitioners started a non-stop, around the clock protest in front of the Chinese Consulate. It has continued for 2161 days.

Former Parliament Member Simma Holt came to support the practitioners. She pointed out that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is the world's most evil cult. She said that the media, government, justice system and churches in Western society haven't take responsibility on the Falun Gong issue, thus contributing to the persecution lasting so long. She praised practitioners' efforts in clarifying the facts, which is the key to ending the persecution.

Ms. Holt pointed out that it is a mistake that the International Olympic Committee let the CCP regime hold the games in 2008. She said to practitioners that what they have done is not just for Falun Gong, but for the whole world.

Seventy-year-old Ms. Jiang and Ms. Zhang were high school teachers in China. They both experienced the brutal persecution. Ms. Jiang was jailed in Lanzhou. Three of her fellow practitioners were persecuted to death. Ms. Jiang later escaped to Vancouver. She joined the protest in front of the Chinese Consulate, and said that many people have recently changed their attitudes toward Falun Gong. "An official from the Chinese Consulate greeted her and praised her," she said.

A recent occurance impressed her greatly. After watching the fireworks festival, numerous drivers passed by the Chinese Consulate and honked to support the practitioners. There were a great many honks, so she stood up and waved to them. She stood there for a long time, waving to people, and she could not help shedding tears.

Many senior and young practitioners attended the rally. Tingting was born in 1999, when the persecution started. Her mother, Ms. Gao said, "It has been eight years. My child and I both witnessed the time in history when practitioners exposed and made great strides in ending the persecution."
