Mr. Wang Yingyi Beaten to Disability - Wangcun Forced Labor Camp (Shandong Province) Officials Refuse to Release Him

He was sentenced to one year of forced labor in October 2006. When he was detained at Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City, he could not walk. At the end of 2006, an agent for the labor camp told Mr. Wang's family that he was in danger of needing to have his legs amputated. In March 2007, the labor camp guards took him to a hospital for tests. He was told that his leg muscles were atrophying. Mr. Wang still needs others to take care of him.

In October 2006, when he was detained at the Mouping District Detention Center in Yantai City, Mr. Wang Yingyi went on a hunger strike for several days to protest the torture, and his legs were injured. At that time, his family members noticed that he had trouble walking. They do not know the details and thought it was a result of his hunger strike. A prisoner named Wang Jiaqiang (male) was in the same cell as Mr. Wang Yingyi. Wang Jiaqiang sneaked up on Wang Yingyi and viciously kneed him in the lower back. The force was so intense that Mr. Wang Yingyi passed out immediately. A few days later, even though Mr. Wang's lower back injury had become even more severe, the malicious Wang Jiaqiang was even more cruel and continued to beat Mr. Wang along with other people. The most serious incident was when one person kicked Mr. Wang's already injured back with all his might and ran Mr. Wang into a metal door two meters away. Wang Jiaqiang and others continued to hit and kick Mr. Wang until he could not move any more. After that, Mr. Wang Yingyi could not walk without assistance.
