Office of The President
Borough of Brooklyn
City of New York

Proclamation

Whereas, Brooklyn is proud home to the fastest-growing Chinese community in New York City, and represents the third largest population of Chinese residents in the United States, it is most fitting that we celebrate those important Chinese culture events; and

Whereas, New Tang Dynasty Television, New York's premier non-profit Chinese language broadcaster, hosts the International Chinese Classical Dance Competition, a three day performance art extravaganza at New York University's Skirball Center, bringing together dozens of world-class artists from China, Taiwan, Singapore, Europe, and throughout North America for a one-of-a-kind celebration of the 3,000 year old heritage--all of Brooklyn joins in paying tribute to all of the wonderful performers on this historic occasion; and

Whereas, on behalf of all Brooklynites, I salute New Tang Dynasty Television and all of the dedicated organizers of the first International Chinese Classical Dance Competition for bringing 3,000 years of Chinese Dance to New York City, I commend all of the performers for taking a long tribute to share the gift of dance, and I thank all of those present for helping make New York City the artistic capital of the world;

Now, therefore, I, Marty Markowitz, President of the Borough of Brooklyn, do hereby proclaim Friday, July 6th, 2007

International Chinese Classical Dance Competition Celebration Day

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Borough of Brooklyn to be affixed this 6th day of July, 2007.

Marty Markowitz (signature)
President of the Borough of Brooklyn
