National Security Team Officers Brutally Beat Practitioner Ms. Zhou Zhonglian from Yidong County, Hunan Province

(Clearwisdom.net) On the evening of June 24, 2007, Yidong County 610 Office police and officers from the county police department's National Security Team arrested practitioner Ms. Zhou Zhonglian and immediately interrogated her. They beat her so brutally that she lost consciousness.

A driver from the National Security Team punched 60-year-old Zhou Zhonglian hard and kept beating her until she lost consciousness.

Ms. Zhou was still in a coma the next day. When her nephew, who worked in another section of the police department, found her, she was sent to the county People's Hospital for emergency treatment.

Due to the torture, Ms. Zhou was unable to move the left side of her body. Because of her former comatose state, she has not eaten, does not recognize anyone and speaks gibberish. As of June 30, she had not shown any signs of recovery.

At 9:00 p.m. on June 24, Ms. Zhou and practitioner Ms. Tan Luyun saw someone trying to tear down a Falun Gong truth-clarifying poster. Ms. Zhou persuaded the person not to do so, saying, "Please don't tear it down, that is not good for you!" Then the person asked, "What good is the poster?" She replied, "Isn't Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance good?" The person said nothing. Ms. Zhou and Ms. Tan walked on, but a white police car and a black car pulled up to them. A group of officers dragged Ms. Zhou and Ms. Tan into the cars. Ms. Tan shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" The officers beat her.

Ms. Tan is currently being held at the county detention center. When her family went to see her, the guards said they could only see her if they paid 500 yuan.

On May 22, the Yidong County Party Committee published the document: "Yidong County Party Committee Prevents and Handles Falun Gong Group." The County Party Committee and "610 Office" sent out a notice entitled: "The work supervision on the county-wide elimination of the reactionary posters and banners" to all units of the county.
