Practitioner Tang Hengfen from Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province Unlawfully Sentenced to Three and a Half Years of Imprisonment

(Clearwisdom.net) The Jiguan District Court in Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province held a court session to try practitioner Mr. Tang Hengfen on June 19, 2007. The two attorneys Zuo Dawei and Hou Shuxian defended Mr. Tang and entered a plea of not guilty. The court could not find any evidence of a crime, and therefore could not reach a verdict. However, Mr. Tang Hengfen was sentenced to three and a half years in prison on July 2. With no legal support or evidence of a crime, and negating the attorneys' defense, police authorities interrogated and extorted a false confession from Mr. Tang. They also forged false scenes and fabricated evidence.

Defense attorneys Zuo Dawei and Hou Shuxian submitted a written explanation, but the judgment of the court accepted neither any suggestions nor explanations from the attorneys. Mr. Tang Hengfen submitted a written appeal to the court on July 10, requesting to be released with a verdict of not guilty.

Respected Law Enforcement Officers:

I am a Falun Gong practitioner and my name is Tang Hengfen. I completely deny all the charges that were laid against me.

I used to be sickly and weak and couldn't even take care of myself, not to mention go to work. When I started to practice Falun Gong, my health recovered miraculously in just a few days. Not only can I take care of the housework, but I also feel energetic when performing my work. I truly experienced the joys of being healthy. I am grateful for my Master's merciful salvation from the bottom of my heart. I used to believe in Buddhism and practiced some other qigong for over 8 years. My health did not improve one bit, but instead got worse. I couldn't go to work and ended up bedridden. I tried many famous doctors but every one of them told me that they could not help me. My family and friends witnessed the change in me after I began practicing Falun Gong.

My practice does not hurt either society or any individual. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance cleansed my heart and enabled me to be tolerant toward others and strict with myself.

The police authorities interrogated me and fabricated over 40 pieces of false evidence. They violated the law when they persecuted and arrested me.

As a Falun Gong practitioner, I solemnly request: Stop the persecution of Falun Gong and return respect to Dafa and my Master. Return freedom of belief and human rights to all practitioners, and release all those innocent practitioners.
