Eyewitness to the Brutal Treatment of Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Xiuying at Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City
By a practitioner in Jilin Province
(Cleawisdom.net) The article posted on the Clearwisdom website (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2007/7/8/87462.html)
titled "The Persecution of Ms. Li Xiuying in Tonghua County, Jilin
Province" reminded me of how Ms. Li Xiuying was tortured. Although I only
witnessed five days of her detention personally, the brutality and Ms. Li
Xiuying's polite manner and compassion formed a strong contrast. Even today, I
still have a vivid memory of the events. In the fall of 2003, the weather was hot and dry. Right after lunch,
practitioners detained in Division Seven in the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp were
called back to do forced labor. At about 3 p.m., guard Qiang Tongqin forced the
steadfast practitioners to go downstairs. A few minutes later, some 'not
completely "reformed"' practitioners were also forced to go
downstairs. The guards told the practitioners "to have a good look." Once downstairs, I saw a woman lying on the ground. Her shirt was unbuttoned,
and her bra was ripped loose and barely covering her breasts. Her pants were
also pulled loose, and she wore no shoes. It looked like she had been dragged on
the ground for a long time. She was lying on her back, motionless, with her pale
face turned to one side. Her hair was a mess. We could tell that she was still
alive only from her slightly moving abdomen. Several guards, including division
leaders Liu Hu and Hou Zhihong, and female guards Zhang Yunxue, Zhao Jing, and
Jian Ping, were sitting under a tree, making dirty jokes and laughing at the
practitioner on the ground. Liu Hu even kicked her and cursed, "Fake
death." According to a prison guard, the woman was a Falun Gong
practitioner from Tonghua City. She was very weak, so the police had dragged her
to this place. From upstairs, we could see the long trace her body made on the
ground as the guards had dragged it. At dinnertime, I saw her name on a bulletin board: "Ms. Li Xiuying."
She was assigned to Group Two. According to the prison guards, this was her
second time at the labor camp. The previous time she was also in Group Two. I
should clarify something here: The mission of forced labor camps is to
"reform" all practitioners, and each group has to assume all the
responsibility for failing to achieve this goal. So if a practitioner returns a
second or more times, she would be assigned to the same group of guards. These
guards would then have their bonuses reduced for their failure to
"reform" the practitioner. As a result, the guards intensified the
torture to these practitioners to ensure their own rewards. In their words, the
practitioners should "go through enough pain, so they do not come back
again." The local police stations and 610 Office staff all have
close connections with the forced labor camp guards. When the practitioners are
released, some local police stations record detailed information about the
guards who were in charge of the detained practitioners. This is another
technique used by the Chinese Communist Party to push the police to commit more
crimes. On that day, Ms. Li Xiuying did not eat anything. In the evening when others
stopped working, she was carried back to her room at the end of the hallway.
Several guards took turns watching her. In the same room, practitioner Wang
Kefei (who had died from torture) and several others who were persecuted
severely were once detained there. The next morning, after the guards were on
duty, Ms. Li Xiuying was carried to an interrogation office. Liu Hu, Hou Zhihong
and Zhang Yunxue once again verbally assaulted Ms. Li Xiuying. Because of her
feeble condition, they did not dare to torture her. Later, she was moved to a
small storage room next to the toilet. Three persons watched her around the
clock. The next day, Ms. Li Xiuying would be carried back again. This went on for
five days. She could not eat. She was not allowed to use the toilet, not allowed
to see a doctor, and just remained in bed all the time. Every time she was
carried around, we could hear her soft but firm voice: "Falun Dafa is
good!" Then the guards would shout profanity and try to drown her out. But
we all heard her. "Falun Dafa is good" were the only words I heard her say. From In
my impression, she seemed to be a very tall woman with a mild and kind demeanor.
I also heard that she was a doctor and that the local police had illegally
arrested her from the hospital where she worked. Above is my eyewitness account of the persecution of Ms. Li Xiuying. July 28, 2007 |
