Practitioners Arrested by the 610 Office in Beijing's Haidian District

(Clearwisdom.net) Since March 2007, many practitioners in various parts of China have been arrested by the 610 Office. Beijing is no exception. In the Haidian District, the 610 Office captured several practitioners. In Haidian Detention Center, every cell holds five to six practitioners and has a capacity for 30 or more. All of the captured practitioners are over the age of 60 and most of them are first time detainees.

These arrests all took place the same way. Local police first phoned the practitioner to confirm that he or she was at home. They then showed up at the door with local 610 Office agents. After forcing their way in, they first asked if the person was still practicing Falun Gong. If he or she responded affirmatively, the intruders took out their "Search Warrant," filled in the information then and there, and told the practitioner's relative to sign it.

It was usually the 610 Office agents that did the ransacking, as the local police were usually not involved in this activity. They are most interested in looking for computers. If they found truth clarification material, especially copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, Dafa books or CD's, then they would take the practitioner to the police station for interrogation.

If the person refused to give up practicing Falun Gong, he or she would be sent to the detention center immediately. If they found several Dafa materials on the computer and at least one copy of the Nine Commentaries, the practitioner would be illegally sentenced to two and a half years in a forced labor camp. If they found only a few Dafa materials, but at least one copy of the Nine Commentaries, and if the practitioner had not been detained or sent to a forced labor camp before, then the practitioner would be detained for a month.

Following detention, the practitioners' work units would take them back but continue to illegally confine them. For the next two weeks they were forced to attend brainwashing sessions held by the local community center. The work unit was fined 10,000 yuan and was required to send two people to watch the practitioners day and night.

In May, agents from the Communist Party's 610 Office tracked down practitioner Fu Yongnian's company through the invoice issued by a supplier. Ganjiakou police station and the 610 Office of the Haidian District ransacked Mr. Fu's home and company office and detained him at the Haidian police station. They are now going through the so called "criminal law" procedures. Mr. Li Baorong, an engineer, was also affected by Mr. Fu's arrest. His home was illegally searched and Mr. Li was detained for almost a month. He was released to his work unit due to his hypertension and he is now back home.

On July 10, the police and agents continued the search and arrest of local practitioners using the information obtained from Mr. Fu. Another practitioner, Mr. Sun, was arrested and is still detained at the Haidian Detention Center.
