Blessed by the Fa

(Clearwisdom.net) My wife lost her job in the 1990s. I was worried that she might fall ill due to depression, so I asked her to learn qigong. Unfortunately, the result was not good. Worse, she got spirit possession. She began to act irrationally, yelling and screaming all the time and disturbing the peace in the family.

It was about September 1996 when my wife was fortunate enough to encounter the great practice in the Buddha School--Falun Gong. She started practicing it with a pure heart, and not long afterwards, her abnormal state disappeared, and the warmth and peace returned. My daughter and I obtained the Fa in December 1996, and before long my 74-year-old mother started practicing, too. Dafa has brought to my family blessings, good fortune, and peace.

Through studying the Fa and cultivating my heart, both my body and mind were purified. Not long after I started practicing Falun Gong, quite a few of my recurring illnesses, such as a spine disorder, insufficient blood supply to the brain, dizzy spells, and a pounding heartbeat, disappeared without a trace. Dafa helped my mother, too. Her heart condition, stomach trouble, and frequent diarrhea all disappeared. Because of her old age and poor health, my mother used to depend on medication three times a day just to live. Moreover, she smoked and drank most of her life. But after she started practicing Falun Gong, she quit smoking and drinking, stopped taking medicine, and improved daily, both physically and emotionally. She was even able to climb up and down five flights of stairs without any help while carrying 20 pounds worth of groceries! What's more miraculous is that she had uterine cancer 40 years ago and received chemotherapy for it, but her period, though not much, came again years after it had stopped. (Teacher Li, the founder of Falun Gong, indicates in the book Zhuan Falun that for older women, one's period will return because it is needed for practicing cultivation.)

On July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started its bloody persecution, and each of my family members, in one way or another, was victimized. All of us remained firm in our cultivation. My wife, accompanied by our daughter, went to Beijing twice seeking justice for Falun Gong. On October 1, 1999, all the members in my family, except for my mother, were picked up by the police. I was taken to a brainwashing center and held there illegally for 20 days before I was released. Both my wife and my daughter were illegally detained too. My daughter was held for two months and my wife was sent to a forced labor camp for one year. While we were away, my 76-year-old mother was alone at home with no one taking care of her, worrying about our safety. She was unable to endure the unbearable pain and passed away on November 8, 1999. Our once healthy and peaceful family was thus ruined by the persecution.

October 1, 2000, the warehouse at my workplace suddenly caught fire. The raging blaze quickly swept through the building, sending clouds of dark smoke and flames through the roof and up into air more than 30 feet high. People standing 30 feet from the fire found the heat scorching. It took about 20 minutes for the fire brigade to arrive and put the fire out. The whole structure was burnt to the ground and even the steel gates were badly deformed by the heat of the blaze. The only thing left were the smoldering walls. It was a devastating disaster.

I want to point out in particular that in this nearly 120-square-foot room, in addition to some production materials and equipment, there were three air tanks about six meters in diameter and 15 feet high. They were three feet apart from one another. When the fire started, each of those tanks was filled with compressed air at five or six times the atmospheric pressure. Ordinarily, the compressed air in the tanks would have expanded when heated and caused an explosion similar to a bomb. If that had happened, more than a dozen workers at the site, including me, the firemen who had come to put out the fire, as well as about 100 people in the crowd would likely have been killed instantly.

Nonetheless, it did not occur. It was our merciful Master who protected me, a Dafa practitioner, and all of those who were present at the site. I can never hold back my tears each time I think of it. I often thought about how grateful I was for Master's mercy, and I could only marvel at the Buddha's vast grace.

Another thing is that when I cleaned up the site after the fire was put out, I found that some of the things I had put in an iron box were destroyed, and the iron chain on top of the box was burned, too. But miraculously, none of the three packages of Dafa books I had placed in the iron box were burned. Only the three corners of a newspaper I used to wrap up the books were smoldering, but the books were good as new. So, I witnessed with my own eyes the wonder and magic of Dafa, which only added to my faith in Master and the Fa and to my resolve to practice cultivation.

We have cultivated for 10 years now and are far behind from diligent practitioners. We are determined to catch up, to keep pace with Master's Fa-rectification process, and do the three things well, so that we may follow Master and return home.
