Persecution Suffered by Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Du Guolin in Tonghua, Jilin Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Du Guolin, 43 years old from Tonghua, Jilin Province, he is a resident of Fu Ming subdivision, Guang Ming street. He is a cab driver. Because of practicing Falun Gong, he suffered several years' of persecution by the local police station, detention center, and forced labor camp.

On May 29, 2003, at about 8:30 a.m., due to being reported to the police, Mr. Du Guolin was taken to the local police station by local police officers. The officers extorted 150 yuan cash and a cell phone from him along with Dafa books, tapes, CDs and other Dafa materials.

Police attempted to have Du Guolin reveal the actions of two practitioners and the place where the Dafa materials and books came from. Du Guolin refused. A policeman with small eyes took Du Guolin's coat, belt, and shoes off, handcuffed Guolin's one hand on a heater's pipe, handcuffed his other hand to a special ring on the ground. The policeman fiercely kicked his head, chest, back, lower abdomen, arms and insulted him. The atrocity lasted from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Later, three police took Du Guolin to the sixth floor of the Dongchang District Police Department, put him in a two square meters' steel cage, and handcuffed him to a steel chair. The small eyed policeman pulled out a bloodstain underwear from behind the heater radiator, and gagged Guolin with the bloodstain underwear. The policeman covered his head with a plastic bag to suffocate him. Since he didn't give in, the policeman made an effort to pull his head backwards and chopped at his throat with his palm. Another police officer punched his chest. When they saw he was almost going to die, they let loose the plastic bag to let him take a breath, and then suffocated him again. They repeatedly tortured him like this. The atrocity lasted from 3:00 p.m. to past 7:00 p.m. They ended up putting him in Tonghua Jail.

Everyday Du Guolin was forced to sit for a long time on a board to wrap toothpicks. It caused pain to his neck, chest, and the lower back. Some criminals took his money to buy bedding for the police so as to flatter them. Some others took advantage of his family and extorted 25,000 yuan from them.

After being tortured for seventeen days in the Tonghua Jail, Du Guolin was illegally sentenced for one and a half years of forced labor. On September 2, 2003, he was sent to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun, Jilin Province.

During the illegal imprisonment at the forced labor camp, guard Jiang Chengcai of the 5^th Division insulted, cursed and beaten Du Guolin mercilessly. On the morning of September 4, 2003, Jiang Chengcai took him to the No. 2 Cell to conduct the so-called "transformation." When the "transformation" failed, he punched Du Guolin's ears fiercely, and caused him to lose hearing, have a ringing sound in the ear, and dizziness, which he still has not recovered from.

Jiang Chengcai also made use of and instigated the criminals to monitor Du Guolin around the clock. Every day Guolin was forced to sit on a board for more than 10 hours, and he was forced to do slave labor: folding paper, corn harvesting etc.

In October 2003, because Du Guolin exposed the persecution when asked to write his thought report, he was detained in the first team of the first division. In early December, Du Guolin again exposed the persecution by writing his thought report. Policeman Wang Tao instigated criminal Li Jifa and others to beat him, and coerced Guolin to re-write his thought report by threatening not allowing the entire team to have sleep.

Having suffered extended torture, Du Guolin's body and mind became seriously devastated. In mid-December, 2003, his arms and legs became numb and stiff, and later his whole body became numb. He lost control of his bladder, his vision decreased and he lost hearing. His body weight dropped dramatically from 150 lb to 96 lb. His mouth was serious infected, he had long lasting coughs and lost heart rhythm; he got the renal failure, and a high fever for all days; his conscious was not clear. He couldn't take care of himself and didn't have the energy to say a single word.

On March 17, 2004 and on March 23, Du Guolin was twice brought to Jilin University First Hospital for diagnoses, which his family had to pay for out of their own pocket. The police forced him to agree to take a shot of nerve anesthesia. After the injection, he lost his awareness. Policeman Ji further extorted 500 yuan from his family member.

After the diagnoses, the doctor requested to have Du Guolin released so as to be treated immediately. But the director of the forced labor camp Wang Jiangang and department chief Zhang obstructed in every possible way because he didn't want to "transform." The local police also refused to accept Guolin's not being "transformed." They extorted 500 yuan from Du Guolin's family. Policeman Ji extorted another 400 yuan in the name of purchasing nutrition food and daily necessities for Du Guolin. At that time, his own expense was controlled by police Ji and the criminal Li Fujian.

When the illegal forced labor period was up, policeman Ji wanted to have 200 yuan as commission, but Du Guolin did not agree. Policeman Ji again illegally put Du Guolin in prison for an extra 10 days.

After being released from prison, Du Guolin was frequently harassed by local police and community agents. In the afternoon of October 12, 2006, Dongchang Police Station officer Wang Jin and two others (one with the surname Li) came to his shop and said, "Someone accused you of robbing, please go with us to the police station." They forcefully took him to the police station, conducted the so-called "case" interrogation. After nine o'clock in the evening, the three police brought Du Guolin back to his home and illegally searched his house but found nothing. They took him to the police station again and turned to ask straightforward about Falun Gong this time. Du Guolin didn't co-operate and finally the police had to release him.

This persecution caused enormous damage to Du Guolin's health, and to this day, he has still not completely recovery.
