1. Mr. Bian Liangjing Arrested Again After Becoming Mentally Disoriented Due to Persecution in a Forced Labor Camp

Mr. Bian Liangjing is a Falun Gong practitioner from Xiliuchun Village, Dingzhou City, Hebei Province. On July 10, 2007, several police officers broke into his home. They were led by Ma Tiezhu, head of Dingzhou City State Security Division, and Liu Jianying, deputy chief of the Dingzhou City Public Security Bureau. Without any explanation, the officers pushed Mr. Bian into a police vehicle. His father rushed home after hearing the police had gone to his home, and the police arrested him too. He was taken to the Xiliuchun County Police Station.

Mr. Bian Liangjing was taken to Dingzhou City Detention Center and then went missing. His father returned home later. His mother went to the county police station to ask for her son, but the police said they have no say in this case.

Mr. Bian Liangjing is forty-two years old. He started practicing Falun Dafa in 1997. He was sent to a brainwashing center twice between 2000 and 2001. On September 16, 2002, he was arrested, taken from his home, and sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp. He was detained at the Balizhuang Forced Labor Camp in Baoding City, where he was subjected to many kinds of torture, including beatings with stools and electric batons, and being hung up with his hands and feet tied with wet ropes. He was tortured so badly that he became mentally disoriented. He can no longer take care of himself.

Mr. Bian's wife divorced him while he was in the labor camp. His fifteen-year-old son lives with his elderly grandparents now and survives by picking up garbage.

2. Elderly Practitioner Ms. Liu Qiaohui Arrested

On the morning of July 11, 2007, police led by Ma Tiezhu, Dingzhou City State Security Division head, and Liu Jianying, deputy chief of Dingzhou City Public Security Bureau, broke into the home of Ms. Liu Qiaohu, a sixty-seven-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner from Dongfucai Village, Dongliuchun Township. Two police officers blocked the entrance, and the others ransacked her home. They took an MP3 player and other personal property. Ms. Liu Qiaohui and her sister Liu Yanguo were arrested. Facing the arrest, her sister questioned the police, "Why are you arresting me? I just came to visit my sister." Ms. Liu told the police, "There is nothing wrong with practicing Falun Gong. There is nothing wrong with cultivating Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. Your action is against the law." The police did not listen to them and instead kicked the two elderly women. Ms. Liu is being detained at Dingzhou City Detention Center.

Ms. Liu Yanguo is nearly seventy years old. Her body was black and blue from being kicked. The police refused to let Ms. Liu's family members visit her.

Ms. Liu Qiaohui started practicing Falun Gong in 1998. She suffered severe arthritis before taking up the practice. She could not sleep at night due to the arthritis pain. Her joints were swollen so badly that she could not even hold chopsticks. After she began to practice Falun Gong, she became healthy and her illness went away. The sixty-year-old lady learned to ride a bicycle. People asked her what magic pills she took. She told them, "Falun Dafa saved me." After the persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20, 1999, Ma Yueliang and ten other people sent Liu Qiaohui to a brainwashing center, but she refused to give up Falun Gong. In 2003, she was sent to the Balizhuang Forced Labor Camp in Baoding City for three years. In May, police from Dongliuchun Township Police Station went to her house under the pretense of helping her to do resident registration and secretly photographed her.
