Arrest of Falun Gong Practitioners on August 12, 2007, in Qi County, Henan Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Several police officers broke into Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Mingtang's home in Shabei Village the evening of August 12, 2007. They were led by Li Xiangyang, head of the Shawo Township Police Station in Qi County, Henan Province. They seized three older men--practitioners Zhang Mingtang, his neighbor Zhang Shufan, and Yang Shouling. The three were taken to the Qi County Detention Center.

When the three questioned the police as to why they were arrested, the police said, "This is an order from a higher authority, not from us. You should be arrested since you practice Falun Gong."

Mr. Zhang Mingtang and Mr. Zhang Shufan are both in their 60s. Mr. Zhang Shouling is in his 70s. All have benefited physically and mentally from learning Falun Dafa, and their health problems disappeared. They conduct themselves based on the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" and never consider personal gain or loss. They always think of others and are widely acknowledged in the village as good people.

The men practice Falun Gong to be good persons and to have good health. Their children will not have to worry about them, and they will have a happy life in their remaining years. What is it wrong with that?

At 1:00 a.m. on August 13, 2007, police from Shawo Police Station and Qi County National Security Division, including police station head Li Xiangyang and division head Li Hongtao, broke into Mr. Zhang Mingtong's home in Shawo Village and arrested the sleeping Mr. Zhang. He was also taken to the Qi County Detention Center.

Police also arrested Mr. Zhang Feng in Gaoyang Township and Mr. Liu Jibin in Xingkou Township. Police didn't provide any justification for their actions.

Zhang Mingtong had many bad habits such as drinking, smoking and gambling prior to learning Falun Gong. After her became a practitioner, he got rid of all his bad habits and changed into a new person. He always conducts himself based on "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" and has become very tolerant. He often helps those in difficulty and always thinks of others first. He is widely acknowledged in the village as a good person.

Those six people are all good people. They were seized and arrested simply because they believe in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" and practice Falun Gong to be better persons and to have good health. What kind of society is it nowadays?
