The Story of "Steel Legs"

(Clearwisdom.net) The following story took place in the rural county of Binchuan, in China, in the winter of 2006. Five people rode together in a small truck to move sand. The vehicle was loaded with tools such as hoes, dust pans and pry bars. When they were going up a hill, the novice driver mistook the brake pedal for the gas pedal and stepped hard on the "brake". The truck suddenly lost control. Even pulling the hand brake couldn't stop the truck from rolling. The moment the truck was about to flip, two men riding in front jumped out.

One of the passengers was a Falun Gong practitioner. She thought, "If I jump out of the truck, the truck will go out of control and kill the other two passengers". In order to protect the two people, she chose not to jump out of the truck to save her own life. Then the truck flipped and landed on her leg. But the other two passengers were unharmed. She was not scared at the time. She shouted out loud, "Teacher Li Hongzhi! Help!" The other four people were frightened by the scene. They tried with all their might to get the truck off her leg. She remembered Teacher's words. Teacher said,

"Good or evil comes from that instant thought." ("Upgrading Xinxing" in Lecture Four of Zhuan Falun)

She knew that she would be all right because she believed that she was under Teacher's protection.

Twenty minutes later 15 people came to help raise the truck so that she could get her leg out.

Upon inspecting her left leg, people saw that it was so swollen that there wasn't any space between the five toes. Onlookers told her to hurry to the hospital. But she insisted that she was fine and asked for a ride home. Her four companions were too shocked by the accident to talk coherently.

The next day this practitioner couldn't walk because her left leg was badly swollen. She had to get piggyback rides to the bathroom. The day after, she continued to think that she was fine because Teacher was protecting her. She tried to get off the bed. The moment that her left leg touched the ground, she could walk again. The swelling dissipated in a week.

The local police heard about the truck accident, and went to her home to write up a report. They told her, "Your bones and muscles were injured. You should be more careful with your leg." She replied, "Falun Gong transcends the mundane world. How could my bones and muscles be injured?" Those who knew about the traffic accident agreed that it was a miracle. She said, "If not for Teacher and Falun Gong, I would have died."

Two weeks later she was hauling over 100lbs of water. A neighbor was very surprised. She explained, "Falun Gong is manifesting its power to you." Since then, her neighbor has been calling her "Steel Legs" and asked her daughter-in-law to learn Falun Gong from her.
