CIPFG Submits Letter to the German Chancellor Urging Her to Seek an Immediate End to the Persecution of Falun Gong (Clearwisdom.net) On August 24, 2007, German members of the CIPFG
(Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in China) wrote a letter
to Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is scheduled to visit China. In the letter,
they urged Mrs. Merkel to help to end the Chinese communist regime's persecution
of Falun Gong and to pass on letters from the CIPFG to China's president Hu
Jintao and premier Wen Jiabao. Their letter to Merkel is translated as follows: Dear Honorable Chancellor Mrs. Merkel: While you are making a state visit to China beginning August 26, we would
like to tell you the situation of the Human Rights Torch Relay and request for
your kind help in stopping the persecution of Falun Gong. The Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in China (CIPFG)
is an international organization that comprises more than three hundred
politicians, physicians, lawyers, journalists, former Olympics athletes and
human rights advocates from various countries. On August 9, 2007, one year
before the start of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, a human rights torch was lit by
the CIPFG in Athens, Greece. The torch is to call upon the world to boycott the
2008 Beijing Olympics in reaction to the brutal persecution that the Chinese
communist regime is inflicting on Falun Gong for the past eight years and the
crime of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners. When the human rights torch arrived at the Olympic Park in Berlin on August
18, the German media gave favorable coverage to the event. The torch relay will
be continued globally so as to awaken the world that the Olympic Games should
not co-exist with crimes against humanity. The tragedy of Hitler's exploitation
of the Olympics to promote nationalism should not recur in Beijing today. More
and more echoes are received from around the world supporting our appeal to
boycott the Beijing Olympics. We are all aware of how bravely the Eastern German people fought for their
freedom and how precious the collapse of the Berlin Wall was. China, the most
populous country in the world nowadays, is still blockaded by the iron curtain
of the Communist Party and continues to bear indescribable hardship. We, who
live in the western world, cannot stay indifferent to the crime of organ
harvesting from living innocent people for profits, which continues today in
China. Never seen before on this planet, the organ harvesting atrocities
endanger the lives of all Chinese people: their livers, kidneys or hearts can be
forcibly removed from unwilling people at any moment. Resorting to economic benefits, the Chinese communist regime has been trying
to seduce western governments to abandon their values. The Olympic Games have
become an instrument for the Chinese communist regime to justify the regime's
brutal persecution on its own people. Instead of making improvements, China's
human rights situation continues to deteriorate after Beijing was awarded the
right to host the 2008 Olympic Games. The Chinese communist regime has failed to
materialize its commitment to the Olympic committee. Soon after Beijing was announced as the host city of the 2008 Olympics,
China's deputy premier said, "Our success in bidding for the host city of
the Olympics indicates the suppression against Falun Gong is right." The
regime's Ministry of Public Security released a secret order in 2007, in which
forty three categories of Chinese people, including Falun Gong practitioners,
media workers, Christians and Roman Catholics are forbidden to participate in or
watch the Olympic Games. What the regime has been doing clearly undermines the
Olympic spirit. On August 25, the human rights torch relay will arrive in Munich. Mrs.
Merkel, please help us to keep the torch relay going. Please also help pass
along our letters to Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao when you are in China. Thank you
very much. Very truly yours, Members of CIPFG in Germany. Posting date: 9/3/2007
