Denver Chinese Dance Teacher: "The Dances Are Touching" (Photo)

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Baoping Shen has been a teacher of Chinese dance in Denver for many years. On the 12th of December, she attended the Chinese New Year Spectacular, presented by New Tang Dynasty Television and performed by the Divine Performing Arts Company, at Denver's Buell Theater. Ms. Shen said, "The content, the movements, and the concepts of the dances were very touching. I have never seen such a perfect display of Chinese dance and traditional culture in a performance."

Ms. Baoping continued, "The dance movements in the show are very beautiful and are well matched with the exquisite costumes--you can see the costumes are specially designed." She was also impressed with the meaningful stories portrayed in the show. "They teach people to do good deeds, have filial piety, and be loyal to the nation... ... These qualities are expressed in the dance movements and the facial expression of actors, which was very moving. I liked it very much."

More than one hundred dance students accompanied her to the show, many of them children from China adopted by Western families. The show was an eye-opener for the children. During an interview, one child said that the show was, "Really, really, really, really good!"

"The Spectacular not only expressed the gentle beauty of Chinese classical dance," Ms. Baoping added, "It it also encompassed strong and powerful movements such as those displayed in the dance, 'Resounding Drums.' The teacher and choreographer, by using dance and martial arts movements, blended the gentle with the strong and powerful aspects. It was a moving experience."
