Practitioner Zhao Yu Sent to Brainwashing Center Following Incarceration at Nanjing City Women's Prison

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zhao Yu is a Falun Gong practitioner from Wuxi City in Jiangsu Province. She is a former bank employee. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials sentenced her to four years of incarceration in Nanjing City Women's Prison for her steadfastness in Falun Gong practice and for telling people the facts about Falun Gong. The following describes her persecution experiences at this prison.

Ms. Zhao refused to sign her name as a criminal on her purchase orders while at prison. For this, the prison officials deprived her of her rights to the basic necessities of daily life. The prison section leader ordered that none of the inmates in her cell could lend Ms. Zhao their things. This meant that for almost nine months, Ms. Zhao had no access to even one roll of tissue or one sanitary pad.

Ms. Zhao also refused to wear a "strict discipline tag." The officials ordered the tag affixed to many of her clothes. They also took away her only warm jacket. In the bitter cold winter, Ms. Zhao was made to sit down beside the toilet, the coldest place in the cell. In the hot summer they made her sit in the hottest spot.

Ms. Zhao continued her practice of the Falun Gong exercises. Prison officials sent her to Pukou Mental Hospital in Nanjing City, where she was tied to a bed and her tormentors used electric needles shock her head.

At the conclusion of Zhao's given term, regime officials transferred her to the Xinghua brainwashing center for further detention. To achieve their goal of her giving in to brainwashing, they once deprived her of sleep for 12 days in a row.
