Practitioners Beaten and Subjected to Brainwashing at Benxi City Prison in Liaoning Province

Since the Chinese Communist Party started persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Benxi Prison in Liaoning Province has never stopped mistreating Falun Gong practitioners. On December 18-19, more than 20 Falun Gong practitioners were transferred from Fushun City and Yingkou City to Benxi Prison.

Below are some facts about the persecution Falun Gong practitioners have suffered there.

1. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiang Yunzhou (from Dandong City)

Mr. Jiang Yunzhou took care of the sick inmates at the prison hospital. On October 15, 2007 he was pummeled and kicked in the head and face by Wu Qiang, who was the hospital staff member in charge. Bones in Mr. Jiang Yunzhou's nose were fractured, his right eye became swollen and purple, and he passed out on the scene. Even now Mr. Jiang Yunzhou still feels pain in his nose and he frequently becomes dizzy.

2. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen Minghui (from Dalian City)

On August 13, 2007, Mr. Chen Minghui was imprisoned at Benxi City Prison. Due to mistreatment his leg was hurt badly and he was in unbearable pain, but he was still ordered to clean up the laundry room. Mr. Chen fell down several times due to the slippery floor, and on November 12, he could no longer endure the pain. Only due to his persistent requests did the prison authorities agree to allow him to go out for an x-ray exam. After taking the x-ray, it was found that his pelvis had been broken and approximately 4 centimeters from the femoral head, the bone stem was grinding against his hip bone. From being forced to walk, 4 centimeters of this section of bone had already been worn off. Mr. Chen Minghui applied many times to all levels of authorities to be released on bail for medical treatment, and his family members also wrote application letters requesting that the prison give him treatment for a period of time. However, Zhao Xuezeng and Sun Tiequn (both male) from the education section said that anyone who was not "transformed" would have their treatment canceled.
