GREETINGS

As Governor of the State of Illinois, I am pleased to welcome everyone gathered for the 2008 Chinese New Year Spectacular.

The New Year Spectacular showcases a wide array of Chinese fine arts and promises to be both culturally enriching and entertaining. While presenting a wonderful spectrum of Chinese cultural arts for everyone in the community to enjoy, this event also provides Chinese-Americans with a valuable connection to their heritage. I am proud to live in a state that boasts such a diverse population, and I am equally proud of the contributions Chinese Americans make to our state.

Ringing in a new year is an opportunity to reflect back upon the previous year, and look toward the future with bright hope and optimism. It also gives us the opportunity to spend time with our family and friends and share in their laughter and joy. I am certain that each of you have many things that you are hoping to accomplish in the coming year, and I wish you the best of success in achieving all of your goals.

On behalf of the citizens of Illinois, I offer my best wishes to all for an enjoyable and memorable celebration, and a very happy and healthy new year.

Sincerely,

Rod R. Blagojevich

Governor
