(Clearwisdom.net) On the evening of January 27, 2008, the Chinese New
Year Spectacular performed by the Divine Performing Arts touring company
completed three shows in Chicago Illinois. After the show, many audience members
waited in the hallway, wanting to be interviewed. Besides praising the show,
many promised to come back and see the show next year. Mr. Amber Burnett is responsible for evaluating cancer treatment processes at
Chicago University. He said this was his first experience seeing a Chinese
culture show and he like the "Mongolian Cups" dance and "Drummers
of the Tang Court" best. Mr. Burnett compared the Chinese traditional dance
to western ballet dance and said that the spectacular tonight was more relaxed
and pleasant. He said that the background was extremely good, "The rain
looked real." He said that western dance is focused on ideas and costumes, but that the
audience often doesn't know what the performance is about. On the other hand,
Chinese classic dance is very traditional. "I will definitely introduce
this show to my friends and I will come again next year." he said. Fifty members from Platinum Adventures Club came to the show. They said that
they attended the show last year. This time, when they saw the announcement in
the club newsletter, they called each other and came together. Many members said
they learned more about Chinese culture, and that the performance was very
beautiful. They thanked the Divine Performing Arts for bringing the show to
Chicago and helping them learn more about Chinese culture. Members from Platinum Adventures Club A group of international exchange students from France and Germany were
taking photos in front of the large Spectacular poster after the show. They said
they received a flier on the street and found it interesting. They didn't expect
there to be a show in America promoting Chinese culture. As for which program
they liked most, almost everyone said it was the "Drummers of the Tang
Court." "They are so powerful and energetic." Some said they
would go back home this summer and would miss the show next year. When they were
told the show was also touring Europe, many of them were surprised and said
happily, "We will go to the show again!" A group of international exchange students from France and
Germany Lee Mulcrone approached the staff after the show and said he had some
comments. "It's a graceful, peaceful and wonderful show!" he said,
"I like the Mongolian dance best. Powerful and orderly. I also liked the
songs. I don't have any problem with understanding the songs. The translation is
very good." Finally he said, "I want to say something about the
program showing the situation in China. They (Falun Gong) are cultivating...
They are kind people. They should not be persecuted." Lee Mulcrone said, "It's a graceful, peaceful and
wonderful show!" Acupuncturist Roger Calu came from Romania. He said it was hard to tell which
part of the show was his favorite but he liked the dances. He said he was from a
communist country so he was more concerned about the stories behind the Chinese
information firewall. He asked, "They (the Chinese Communist Party) don't
want to see this show, do they? " When he heard a confirmed answer and
learned how the CCP interfered with the show, he said, "This is not right.
In America, most people have their own beliefs. People can go to church
freely... I do know that in communist countries, if you do something the
government doesn't like, they do bad things to you."
