Nevada State Assembly Member Valerie Weber Shares Her Impressions of the Chinese New Year Spectacular in Las Vegas (Photo)

(Clearwisdom.net) On January 21, the Divine Performing Arts touring company performed the Chinese New Year Spectacular at the Hilton Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada. Assemblywoman Valerie Weber, representing Clark County District 5, attended the opening ceremony and watched the performance.

Ms. Weber graciously shared her impressions of the show with a Clearwisdom reporter. She said with enthusiasm, "So much talent and beautiful scenery and music. It's something for all the senses." She said she couldn't take her eyes off of the performances. Ms. Weber also mentioned that she had considered leaving after the opening ceremony because she wasn't feeling well, but after watching the show she felt well. "Because of all the positive energy, I feel really good now! I'm so glad I stayed to see it."

Ms. Weber recognized and appreciated the cultural aspects of the show. "It's much older than my culture by far, since it is so many thousands of years old. And the tradition that's carried forward to today should give lots of pride to the Chinese people for preserving their culture through dance and storytelling."

Recalling some of the more specific themes and aspects of culture, Ms. Weber said, "They had the fires burning in those castles...that was beautiful. Then, of course, there was Falun Gong.... I understand that it is a form of expression for spiritual growth and nurturing...it seems to me very sad that people are persecuted for that."

In closing, Ms. Weber said, "I loved it! It was beautiful! I hope it comes back next year. I'll bring my friends."
