The Deaths of Four Practitioners in Wuxue City, Hubei Province, Due to Persecution

(Clearwisdom.net) People who knew Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Feng Yingxiu, Mr. Zhao Zhidan, Mr. Guo Maoquan, and Rev. Mei Zhongquan in Wuxue City, Hubei Province, thought they died due to illnesses. But our investigations indicate that they died as a result of the persecution launched by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in July 1999.

Ms. Feng Yingxiu, in her 30s, was a resident of Garden Village in Longping Township, Wuxue City. After surviving a fire accident, she was disabled and couldn't take care of herself. After practicing Falun Gong for a short while, however, she was able to stretch her crooked fingers and straighten her neck. She was later able to do some work and take care of herself. In early 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong but was repatriated to Wuxue City and taken into police custody, where she was fined 3000 yuan, a a huge amount of money for her. Due to the intense pressure of the persecution, she became mentally disordered. After being released, she was frequently harassed by police officer Xu Jinbiao and officials from Garden Village, and money was extorted from her. Ms. Feng was so poor that she could not afford even 300 yuan, let alone 3000. The intense pressure drove her to death. As a result of her mental condition caused by the persecution, she jumped into the Yangtze River and died. [Note: The teachings of Falun Gong forbid killing, including committing suicide and self-injury. Dafa practitioners are taught to clearly remember at every moment that they are practitioners, and to treasure their lives and avoid thinking and behaving in an extreme or irrational manner.]

After her death, the police from Longping Police Station went to her home to "console" her family. But to cover up their crime, the police spread rumors to deceive people, saying that Ms. Feng died as a result of practicing Falun Gong.

Mr. Zhao Zhizhou, 50, from Zhuhe Village, Longping Township, was handcuffed behind his back in Wuxue for appealing in Beijing in December 2000. Unfortunately, the torture inflicted on him initiated the reappearance of his atrophic gastritis. One night he fell into a coma due to the illness. He was then taken to a hospital emergency room. After he was released, Chen Dahan, the CCP deputy secretary of Zhuhe Village, along with Village Security Officer Li Huiyu, went his home and requested payment for the hospital fees. Ms. Zhao couldn't afford it, so they confiscated and sold off all of Zhao's sawmill factory equipment in which he had invested 30,000 yuan. Consequently, Mr. Zhao Zhizhou lost his source of income and his health worsened. A year later, he passed away.

Mr. Guo Maoquan was in his 50s. He had been healthy before and after he began practicing Falun Gong in 1997. However, in late 2000, he was taken away by police officer Cai Hanjun to a place nearby the Kanjiang Police Station and put into burlap sack and beaten. Later he was taken to Wuhan City's Shizishan Forced Labor Camp, where he was beaten and kicked in the chest by criminal inmates Hu Wenjie and Wang Chaogang, which injured his lungs. After being released, his wounds ulcerated and led to his death.

Rev. Mei Zhongquan used to be a temple abbot in Wuxue City and was in his 60s. After he began practicing Falun Dafa, he realized that Dafa was the genuine Buddha Fa, so he walked throughout Anhui Province, Guangzhou, and Jiangxi, etc. to spread Dafa and save sentient beings. In early 2001, several days after he returned to the temple, he was arrested and takento Wuxue Detention Center, where he held a hunger strike for over three weeks to protest his illegal persecution. Only when he was on the verge of death was he released. Unfortunately, he passed away several days later.
