(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities and counties in 10 provinces. In this report, 29 practitioners were subjected to brutal mistreatment during their detention and at least 6 practitioners were illegally arrested.

At around 6 a.m. on September 25, 2008, Ms. Liu Zonglan and Mr. Jiang Maoshui were distributing Falun Gong informational materials in Xiaoli Town, Changqi District, Pingyin County. After local villagers reported them to the authorities, the officials from the Xiaoli Town 610 Office came and arrested them. Both of them were taken to the Jinan City Detention Center. Mr. Jiang failed the physical exam and was sent home where he is still under surveillance. Ms. Liu is still being held at the detention center.

It was reported that Ms. Shi Ruifen from the Chazhuang Coal Mine area of Feicheng City was sentenced to three years in prison. She made an appeal, but it was rejected. On September 12, 2008. she was taken to the Jinan City First Women's Prison. Her family prepared some personal supplies for her and brought them to the prison, but the prison officials refused to take them to her.

Ms. Niu Zhiqin was also sentenced to three years in prison, but her current situation is unknown.

On September 24, 2008, Ms. Mu Yongxia was secretly sentenced to fours years in prison. She is in the Harbin City Women's Prison.

Du Pengfei, Pan Junlan, and other police officers from the Da County State Security Division went to the homes of elderly practitioners Ms. Liu Mingzhen and Ms. He Changying and arrested them. It was reported that another practitioner, Ms. Zheng Jiawen, in her 50s, who works at the same company as Ms. He Changying, was arrested as well. Ms. He was released, but the other two practitioners were still being held at the Da County Detention Center.

In the early morning on September 22, 2008, over 30 practitioners were doing the Falun Gong exercises in People's Square in Xiangfan City. Officers from the local police station and the State Security Division came in several police cars and assaulted the practitioners. Over a dozen were arrested. Mr. Zhu Guangyuan and Mr. Chen Xinan were taken to the Xiangfan City Second Detention Center. Mr. Cheng Xiaobao, Mr. Zhang Yi and Mr. Kong Qiangshen were detained in Shayang Forced Labor Camp. Some practitioners were released while on their way to the labor camp. All the other practitioners were released.

Ms. Su Baoli, 38, is a resident of Wangjiazhuang Town, Anqiu City. On July 9, 2008, officials from the local 610 Office and the State Security Division arrested and harassed over 20 practitioners. Ms. Su Baoli was one of them. She is being detained in Wangcun Forced Labor Camp.

On September 16, 2008, three practitioners from the same Fa study group at the Beijing Street wholesale market area in Dalian City were arrested. On October 2, 2008, one practitioner, Lu (given name unknown), was released,. The other two practitioners, Li and Su (both given names unknown), were being detained in Yaojia Forced Labor Camp. Practitioner Li held a hunger strike, was subjected to forced feeding, and is now very weak.

On September 28, 2008, while two practitioners were talking to the public about the persecution of Falun Gong in Xingzi County, Jiangxi Province, they were reported to the authorities. At 2 a.m. the same night, they were arrested and taken to the Xingzi County Detention Center. It was reported that one of them was severely beaten and both of them are still being detained there.

After Ms. Zhu Weiying was arrested in June 2008, she was detained in Feixi Detention Center. She held a hunger strike for more than 90 days. She became weak and was recently released.

Ms. Lu Shanshan was arrested in June 2008. She was recently sent to a psychiatric institute for further persecution.

Practitioner Sun (given name unknown) from Hefei City was also arrested in June of 2008, and has been detained at the Feidong Detention Center for over three months. Practitioner Sun's current situation is unknown.

On Setpember13, 2008, officers from the Xinglongtai Police Station arrested Mr. Zhu Zuohai. That night, he was taken to the Panjin City Third Detention Center in the Ershilipu area. On September 19, 2008, he was taken to the Panjin City Forced Labor Camp. On September 27, he was transferred again, this time to the Benxi City Forced Labor Camp to serve a three-year term.

Ms. Li Wei and her husband, Mr. Yu Shen, are from the Development District in Qinhuangdao City. Recently, both of them were sentenced to three and half years in prison. Ms. Li has appealed.

Ms. Kong Fanyan was forced to leave home to avoid persecution. Her husband, Sun (given name unknown), was sentenced to seven years in prison and will be sent to the Benxi City Prison.

Ms. Wang Xia, 34, is a resident of Chang'an District, Shijiazhuang City. She has been detained and harassed many times. In July 2008, she was arrested at her home. CCP officials pressured her husband to divorce her. On August 5, 2008, Ms. Wang was sentenced to two years of forced labor.

Ms. Zhang Guiqin, 64, is a resident of the Qiaodong District, Shijiazhuang City. She was also arrested at her home in July of 2008. On August 7, 2008, she was sentenced to two years of forced labor.

Mr. Liang Lake, 57 years old, is a resident of Jinxing County, Hebei Province. He had worked in Qiaoxi District, Shijiazhuang City, for several years. He was arrested at his home. On August 8, 2008, he was sentenced to two years of forced labor.

On September 22, 2008, Mr. Gao Li went to the Huayuantun Police Station to obtain an ID card, but the police arrested him on the spot. That afternoon, Niu Quanxi, an official from the Datong City Police Department 610 Office, took him to the Chengqu Police Department. That night he was detained in the Datong City Second Detention Center.

Ms. Cao Shunan, in her 40s, is a resident of Chahe Village, Shuidao Town, Muping District, Yantan City. On the afternoon of September 23, 2008, when she arrived home from work, the police from the Muping District State Security Division and the Shuidong Police Station were waiting on her doorstep to arrest her. She is being held in the Muping District Detention Center. Another practitioner from the same village as Ms. Cao, was able to escape from his home and avoid being arrested. However, his home was ransacked and he was unable to return home, becoming homeless to avoid further persecution.

On October 25, 2003, many practitioners in Mudanjiang City were arrested and later sentenced. Some of them are still being detained. Mr. Jin Youfeng was among them. He was tortured in the Second Criminal Division of the Mudanjiang City Police Department. He was forced to sit on the Tiger Bench with both hands handcuffed behind his back through the holes in the bench. The police also pulled his legs apart at a 180-degree angle. Some of the officers stepped on him and pulled his hair.
