(Clearwisdom.net) An issue that is foremost in the minds of Chinese people is the contaminated milk scandal. Since Sanlu's infant formula was found to contain toxic chemicals, over 20 other brands of milk products have also been found to contain melamine. What a terrible tragedy this is!

Melamine is a toxic industrial chemical agent. Colorless and odorless, it is used in the manufacturing of insecticides, herbicides, sanitizers, and plastic products. Because melamine molecules contain a high number of nitrogen atoms, some use it as an ingredient to artificially elevate the protein content of products. Additionally, it can also increase the adhesiveness of powered milk and animal feed. It is because of these characteristics that this chemical has been improperly utilized by some companies.

Let's look at these companies, using the Sanlu Group as an example. The fact that the Sanlu Group could win people's trust and become so popular is inextricably related to the support it received from high-ranking officials of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Wu Bangguo (Chairman of the Standing Committee for the CCP People's Congress), Jia Qinglin and Zeng Qinghong (both members of the Politburo), Bo Xilai (former Minister of Commerce), and several Vice Premiers have visited Sanlu and commented positively on the company. Not only that, the Chinese General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine granted Sanlu exemption from the state's quality inspections and testing. The national media also frequently promoted Sanlu. It is because of this type of support and promotion that Sanlu became such a famous brand in China. When people were buying infant formula and trying to decide which brand to purchase, how could they imagine that the product they bought would harm their babies?

As early as several years ago, when some babies' heads grew to sizes disproportionate to their bodies after they were fed powered milk, Sanlu products were found to not meet safety standards. However, the Sanlu Group initiated a series of public relations efforts, and as a result, officials from the Hebei Province government and the Chinese General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine silenced the issue. The recent incident was the second time that Sanlu products were found to have problems. Furthermore, this second violation was discovered as early as six months ago, before the Beijing Olympic Games started. However, to protect its image during the Olympic Games, the Communist regime chose to cover it up. If it had not been for the Fonterra Co-operative Group (a New Zealand company and partial owner of the Sanlu Group), who repeatedly asked the regime to resolve this issue, and if it had not been for the New Zealand Prime Minister, who stepped in and put pressure on the Beijing government, who knows how long the Communist regime would have kept this hidden and harmed even more babies.

For the officials of the CCP regime, the lives of its people take a back seat to their power and self-interests. That is the lesson to be learned from this tragedy. The toxic powdered milk has been distributed throughout China and in many other countries and regions. So far, more than six million infants have been affected. This is a serious issue, because it has endangered the whole world, especially the future generations of Chinese citizens. Is it solely the responsibility of one company? Why is it that the Communist regime's leaders have not been held responsible? Is it right that this flagship enterprise in the milk industry should have developed and grown under the frequent inspections and guidance of the leaders of the "great, glorious, and righteous" Party?

After this tragedy occurred, CCTV News (the CCP's mouthpiece) continued to lie to the public, saying, "Some experts are reminding people that melamine is a chemical agent of low toxicity, and, while it can cause problems in the urinary system, most of the infants that have developed kidney stones can excrete the stones by drinking water. Even when renal failure develops, it can still be cured." Can they really resolve the issue just by saying that? The news program was basically saying that the kidney stone issue can be taken care of by just drinking water. Is that the right thing to do? The reality is that there are many Chinese people who have developed renal failure, which often turns into uremia, a life-threatening condition that has resulted in numerous deaths. Isn't this another case of deception by the CCP?

Since 1999, in order to persecute Falun Gong, the CCP regime has directed all of its media outlets to frame and slander Falun Gong, falsely claiming that Falun Gong kills people. People can see plainly who is really doing the killing. Falun Gong practitioners follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and it is against their beliefs to commit suicide. Since the Communists have been in power, 80 million Chinese people have died of unnatural causes during the regime's many political movements. The milk powder scandal is an example of the regime putting its own interests before the lives of its citizens, refusing to take responsibility and instead looking for a scapegoat.
