How One Woman Chose a Better Path

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Gao Guobo, 47 years old, lived in Sunwu County in Heilongjiang Province. Ms. Gao killed her husband during an intense family dispute and was subsequently sentenced and imprisoned. While serving her term in the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison, she worked excessively every day and treated herself poorly. For example, she used the money her relatives sent her to buy cigarettes instead of daily necessities. (Cigarettes are brought into prisons illegally by guards who sell them for profit). She hid in the restroom and smoked. When she became ill, she took large amounts of medicine. Due to the smoking, she developed a severe cough. She also lost weight and acquired a bad temper. She cursed at people and fought with them. She had complete disregard for herself due to her feelings of hopelessness. Once during a minor incident, she shouted and cursed at another inmate for an entire day, the intense stress resulting in a fainting spell.

Ms. Gao was introduced to Falun Dafa while she was serving her term in prison and became a practitioner. She changed from being a bad person with low morality to a good and compassionate individual. She did not fight for personal interest and practiced forbearance. Her diseases soon disappeared, she quit smoking, she put the hard-earned money her relatives sent to good use, and she stopped cursing and fighting.

Then, on July 20, 1999, the former leader of the CCP, Jiang Zemin, began the persecution of Falun Gong. The guards started to beat, berate, torture, and withhold food from practitioners.

Ms. Feng Haibo also began practicing Falun Gong in prison and was severely persecuted, including being confined in a solitary cell for one year. While Ms. Gao Guobo was doing hard labor, she was constantly monitored. During the nine years of ongoing persecution, Ms. Gao has steadfastly practiced Falun Dafa and has made it through different difficulties and hardships. She works in the clothing processing workshop in the First Division of the prison and is serving out her prison term with very good behavior.

We appeal to all righteous and good people in the world to pay attention to the plight of practitioners who started practicing Falun Gong in prison. They include Ms. Gao Guobo, Ms. Feng Haibo, Xie Yaqin, Zhang Yanfang, Feng Shurong, Hu Guiyan, Zhao Fengxia, and many others. Please help end this inhuman persecution immediately.
