(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 12 provinces. In this report 38 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 10 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Several practitioners from the Yilan Area drove to Baoxing Township, Fangzheng County to distribute Falun Gong flyers on the night of October 31, 2008. They were reported to police, and personnel from the Fangzheng County Police Department arrived by car to stop them. The police even shot at the practitioners. Fortunately, all practitioners escaped. The police confiscated their car and went to the car owner's home to harass the family the following day.

Officials from the Baodi District Court in Tianjin put six practitioners on trial on October 9, 2008. Ms. Wei Lianhua was sentenced to five and a half years in prison; Ms. Zhang Qiuyan and Ms. Yu Xiuping to four and a half; and Ms. Tan Yueli, Ms. Sun Boyun and Mr. Gong Jingwang to four years. Ms. Wei, Ms. Zhang Qiuyan, Ms. Tan, Ms. Sun and Ms. Yu were put into the Tianjin Women's Prison and Ms. Gong was put into the city's Gangbei Prison on October 21, 2008.

Officials from the Dadong Court in Shenyang sentenced Ms. Zhang Qinghua, Ms. Wu Naiying and Mr. Cong Liang on October 29, 2008. Ms. Wu was sentenced to four years in prison, and the others' verdicts are unknown. Mr. Cong's mother could no longer endure her son's persecution. She died on October 29, 2008.

Officers from the Dadong District Police Department and from the Chang'an Police Station arrested Mr. Cong on the night of August 10, 2008. His twin brother, Mr. Cong Ming, had been sentenced to nine years in prison in 2001. He was first held in the Wafangdian Prison in Dalian City and then transferred to the Nanguanling Prison in December 2007.

Officers from the Guhe Police Station in Laixi City arrested 67-year-old Ms. Liu Aiqing, who lives in the Education Community in Laixi City, in July 2008. The arrest happened while she was clarifying the facts about Falun Gong. Ms. Liu was held in the city's detention center for 15 days and then transferred to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp for one and a half years of forced labor.

Police from Xinglong County arrested Mr. Han Liping and Mr. Chen Xiaodong from Chengde City and Ms. Wang Shuqin from Xinglong County on January 30, 2008. County court officials put them on trial at 9:00 a.m. on November 4, 2008. The verdicts are not known.

Lunan District Court officials held a covert trial for Mr. Zhao Yabin from Tangshan City on October 31, 2008. Mr. Zhao refused to sign the verdict and appealed. A second trial for his case is being processed.

Mr. Li Xianhui has been on a persecution hunger strike since his arrest on October 9, 2008. His life is in danger.

Personnel from the Shanglan Village Police Station in Jiancaoping District, Taiyuan City arrested Mr. Liu Wenyuan, Ms. Zhang Qiuying and Mr. Yin Huaijin on October 14, 2008. Ms. Zhang and Mr. Yin have been released, but Mr. Liu is still being held in the district's detention center.

Officials in the Xunyang District Court in Jiujiang City sentenced Mr. Liu Yizhi to two years in prison and put him in the Nanchang City Prison on October 28, 2008. Ms. Bai Hongzhen was sentenced to five years in prison.

Mr. Liu was forced to do heavy work and was often beaten. Guards ordered his family to pay 50 yuan every time they went to see him.

Personnel from the Linwei District 610 Office in Weinan City held a 20-day brainwashing session for four female practitioners in October 2008. They forced the practitioners to watch Dafa-slandering videos and read Dafa-slandering books. The lawless captors threatened the practitioners with being fired or put into forced labor camps with their salaries suspended if they refused to give up Falun Gong.

Seven practitioners being held in the Xiantao City No. 1 Detention Center are: Mr. Liu Jun, Mr. Hu Feixiong, Mr. Zhou Yancai, Mr. Mao Jun, Ms. Shen Huanjiao, Ms. Chen Muying and Mr. Fu Lingjun.

Ms. Wang Yanxiang, 71, was sentenced and taken to the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison's No. 11 Ward on June 11, 2008. Ms. Wang has dementia now and is somewhat paralyzed. Wounds to her rib cage and feet have not healed.

Officers from the Changchun City Police Department, the Jincheng Police Station, and the Dongfeng Police Station arrested 56-year-old Ms. Cao Fenglan at her home at 11:00 a.m. on November 7, 2008. They confiscated a picture with Master's image.

Personnel from the Xigang District 610 Office arrested Ms. Song Shuyan at her home on November 7, 2008. They ransacked the home and confiscated some Dafa books and a computer. She has been taken to the Yaojia Detention Center.

Officers from the Baoqing County Police Station arrested nine practitioners on June 11 and June 23, 2008. They are: Ms. Wang Junhong, Mr. Tian Xiaoxuan, Mr. Jiang Jie, Mr. Wang Yarong, Mr. Yu Zhanhong, Mr. Jiang Guifu, Mr. Meng Xianguo, Mr. Tian Chengjun, and Mr. Liu Junzhong. These practitioners are being held in the county's detention center. County court agents plan to sentence them on November 14, 2008.

Chuanying Court agents in Jilin City plan to put practitioners Mr. Liu Chengda, Ms. Wang Ying and Mr. Li Hailong on trial on November 11, 2008.

Ms. Chen Lijuan, who is in her fifties, lives in the Gaoxin District. She was arrested for explaining the facts about Falun Gong, and is being held in a detention center.

Mr. Zhu Xiansheng from Mei County was sentenced to prison and is now in the county's Fuda Detention Center.

Personnel from the Panlong Police Station sentenced 55-year-old Ms. Peng Yongnia, who lives in the Wangqiying Community of Kunming City, to two years of forced labor on October 22, 2008. She is being held in Dabanqiao Forced Labor Camp. Ms. Peng had previously been arrested and held in a detention center for six months. The police frequently harassed her and ransacked her home one month before her recent arrest.
