Additional Information on Mr. Zheng Shoujun--Tortured to Death in Custody
(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Zheng Shoujun lived in Liaozhong County, Liaoning
Province. In February 2006, he was arrested and detained for explaining the
truth about Falun Gong. Liaozhong County Domestic Security agent Li Wei and
others brutally beat him, injuring his head. He was not treated, yet he was
nonetheless sentenced to four years in prison. When he held a hunger strike to
protest the persecution in the detention center, he was brutally force-fed. It
appeared that he was having liver problems, and he was later taken to the prison
hospital. Since early 2008, his family had not been allowed to visit him due to
the Olympics season. They learned that he had been secretly taken to Dongling
Prison on August 6, 2008, and he died on August 18, 2008, in the Dongling Prison
hospital. After Mr. Zheng died, the hospital gave his family a large number of
treatment invoices. Doctor Zhang Qiang said he died of cirrhosis of the liver.
However, when the Warden Yao and Guard Ren, with Court employee Li Shulan
(female) met with his family, they presented a death certificate with
"natural causes" written in as the cause of death. Neither prison nor
detention center personnel ever notified his family to say that he was sick or
dying. They even lied to his family when they called on August 18, 2008, and
asked to visit Mr. Zheng in the hospital. When the family rushed to the
hospital, all they saw was his dead body. A source pointed out that no one knew the exact time of Mr. Zheng's death.
His body was found by a janitor. He had been vomiting blood, his body was
