(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 9 provinces. In this report, 14 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 12 practitioners were illegally arrested.

On the morning of November 12, 2008, Liu Jie, chief of the 610 Office in the Huancui District Police Department, led a group of police officers to Ms. Lu Guiling's home. The police had a locksmith open her door and arrested her. Ms. Lu is being detained in the Jinan City Prison.

On November 9, 2008, Ms. Zhang Kaibi and Ms. Zhang Qinglan and her daughter, Ms. Li Zurong, went to Linshui County to promote Falun Gong and expose the persecution. They were arrested and are in the Linshui County Detention Center.

On September 28, 2008, Mr. Huang Xungui and Ms. Xu Dongyu were arrested in Xingzi County. Mr. Huang was transferred to the Jiujiang City Detention Center. On November 12, 2008, he was taken to the Jiujiang City Forced Labor Camp.

On the morning of November 14, 2008, Mr. Huang's family went to visit him and found him extremely emaciated. He had difficulty standing and speaking. Mr. Huang told them that since his arrest, he had only eaten once. Wang Baohua, deputy director of Xingzi County Detention Center, brutally beat him five times. The swelling and bruising from the beatings lasted over a week. Mr. Huang is detained in the No. 1 team of the labor camp.

Ms. Liu Likun, Ms. Chen Ping, and another female practitioner in her 30s were secretly sentenced to eight years, seven years, and six years of imprisonment respectively.

On September 21, 2008, Mr. Liu Yunchao, a practitioner from Wuhan City, was reported to the police while he was handing out Falun Gong fliers in Laoxialu Community, Huangshi City. He was arrested by officers from the Laoxialu Police Station. Mr. Ma, who is a driver and not a practitioner, was arrested at the same time. They have been held in the Baguazui Detention Center in Huangshi City for 55 days.

Mr. Liu Xueming, 59, lives in Xixing Village, Xianyu Township, Dingxing County, Hebei Province. He lives alone and has made a living farming. At about 5:00 p.m. on July 16, 2008, agents from the the Xianyu Township government, the police station, and the judicial station broke into his home. They searched his home and seized his Dafa books, copies of "Mingui Weekly," a satellite TV receiver, and a TV. He was taken to the Xianyu Township government office and transferred to Dingxing County. He was sentenced to imprisonment.

On November 12, 2008, Ms. Wang Yuru was secretly sentenced to three years of imprisonment in the Pengshan County Court.

Mr. Deng Jiangang was sentenced to five years of imprisonment in September 2008. Because he was diagnosed with tuberculosis, he was denied admission to Wumaping Prison three times. He was taken back and detained in the Pengshan County Detention Center. Later, he was taken to a hospital and examined again, but he still had tuberculosis. Sichuan Province authorities pressured the prison to accept him. In November of 2008, he was taken to Wumaping Prison again.

On the morning of July 17, 2008, more than ten police officers broke into Mr. Li Huanyun's home. They closed the door, forced him into a room, and searched his home. The police confiscated all of the cash in his home and arrested him. On August 16, 2008, the police issued an "arrest warrant." On September 24, 2008, the procuratorate dismissed his case due to insufficient evidence. The Wuqiang County 610 Office and police department fabricated facts to persecute him further.

Ms. Zhu Bao from Jianye Township, Linghai City, was taken to prison on October 28, 2008. The prison rejected her because she was ill. She was taken back to the Jinzhou City No. 2 Detention Center and detained there for nearly two weeks. Her family was prohibited from seeing her. She held hunger strike to protest the persecution and is extremely weak and in critical condition.

Mr. Li Chuang, teacher at the No. 20 Middle School in Shenyang City, was taken to the Heping District Detention Center after he was arrested by officers from the Xinxing Police Station.

Mr. Zhang lives in Tangwang Town, Licheng District, Jinan City. His home was searched by more than 30 officers from the Licheng District Police Department and the 610 Office. At the same time, more than 10 practitioners were being arrested, including Mr. Zhang's wife. The practitioners were detained in the Tangwang Police Station, the Dongjia Police Station, or the Guodian Police Station.

On November 14, 2008, Ms. Du Chengying, from Datuan Town, Rongcheng City, was noticed by the police while she was handing out Falun Gong fliers and exposing the persecution at a market. She was arrested by the local police. Her home was searched and her Dafa books, periodicals, and materials were seized. She is now in the Rongcheng City Detention Center.

At 6:40 p.m. on October 11, 2008, Ms. Zhang Xiaofang was reported to the police while she was promoting Falun Gong and exposing the persecution. She was arrested and taken to the Jiubao Police Station in the Qianshan District. Later, she was transferred to Anshan City No. 1 Detention Center. She was sentenced to forced labor and has been taken to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. Gao Pengjie and Wang Shijie are directly involved in this case.

On the morning of November 14, 2008, Ms. Zhang Fan, a teacher at the Jilin Street Primary School in Qingshan District, gave students some cards with lotus flowers and angels painted on them. Wang Yu'e, the principal of the school, thought that this was related to Falun Gong and reported the incident to the police. Ms. Zhang was taken to the Hongwei Road Police Station and her home was searched. Later, her family members picked her up.

Ms. Zhang is an English teacher and has promoted Falun Gong and exposed the persecution many times in school. As a result, she has been arrested, detained and suspended from teaching. She has now been suspended from teaching for about six months.

At about 4:00 p.m. on March 7, 2008, Mr. Luo Changming was arrested by police officers from the local State Security Division in front of the building where practitioner, Ms. Ding Shirong lives. He was taken to the Xuanhan County Detention Center and subjected to abuse.

He was beaten when he was arrested. At the detention center, Du Pengfei and Pan Junlan, both of State Security Division in Da County, took turns interrogating him throughout the night. They forced him to stand straight and prohibited him from sleeping. The authorities of Da County Court arranged to have him tired on November 18, 2008.

Mr. Fu Wenwu, about 40-years-old, was an employee of the Tancheng County Liquor Factory. Since 1999, he has suffered repeated abuse. The authorities of the factory prohibited him from working. He was assigned to guard bicycles at the entrance of the factory. His income was barely enough to eke out a living. He was later detained by the Tangcheng City 610 Office and the Police Department.

Peng Fuming and Yang Danbei, of the State Security Division, along with officers from the Dongcun Police Station broke into the homes of Ms. Fu Chuanhua and Ms. Li Yuanmei at noon on November 10, 2008. They searched the homes and seized Ms. Fu's computer and Dafa books. Ms. Fu and Ms. Li were arrested.
