Ms. Huo Shuxiang Dies Due to Persecution in Heilongjiang Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Huo Shuxiang was a fee collector employed by the Environmental Health Office in Dongning County, Heilongjiang Province. She began practicing Falun Dafa in 1998, and became very healthy in both mind and body. She worked hard on her job which was cleaning restrooms, offices, and collecting fees. She often did an outstanding job and took the initiative to help those colleagues who could not fulfill their quota. She was very well thought of by her boss and colleagues.

On June 27, 2007, Lin Xiaowei, chief of the Domestic Security Division, arrested Ms. Huo when she was passing out Falun Gong truth clarification flyers. She was detained for fifteen days and extorted of 1000 yuan. After she was released, her family strictly monitored her, as they were fearful that Ms. Huo would be arrested again. Her family didn't let her study the Fa or do the exercises. Her boss assigned her to sweep the street with someone supervising her. She was not allowed to have any contact with people, and she had no personal freedom.

Under the heavy pressure from her employer and family, she became ill. This was her first illness since she began practicing. She was diagnosed with an accumulation of fluid in the pleural cavities and heart disease. Her family had taken her to see doctors in Mudanjiang City and Harbin City, and they spent tens of thousands of yuan. The last time her family tried to take her to Mudanjiang City, her family had no savings left, and her employer refused to lend her any money. She died on November 23, 2008, at age 48. Her child is still a minor.
