(Clearwisdom.net) In the winter of 2006, an older lady asked me for directions when I was outside my apartment building. She looked to be around 70. Her face was dark and had many age spots. She appeared to be in low spirits, so I chatted with her and learned that she had just moved into the building and that she was only 59 years old. I said, "I will call you 'Big Sister' because you are nine years older than I am." She was surprised, "I thought you were under 40! How do you manage to stay in such good shape?" I told her about practicing Falun Gong and talked to her about the goodness of the Fa. She listened intently. I could see the longing in her eyes, so I invited her to visit me sometime. She said urgently, "Can you come to our home tonight? I want my husband to hear about your experiences, too." "Sure!" I said. I went to their apartment that evening.
I told them about the wonderfulness of Dafa, about Teacher's benevolent salvation of all sentient beings, how Dafa has spread around the world, and about the big lies the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) fabricated about Falun Gong. I told of the CCP's brutal persecution and the big wave of people quitting the CCP and its affiliated organizations. Without any hesitation, they said that they wanted to quit the CCP and the Communist Youth League. I also shared with them the changes I experienced physically and spiritually after practicing Falun Gong. I told them that my whole family practiced Falun Gong and that we lived by higher moral standards, were healthy, and enjoyed harmony in the family. They listened carefully, and I could see they were moved by the wonderfulness of Dafa and Teacher's character. They said they wanted to learn Falun Gong. I gave them the book Zhuan Falun and told them to read it through without using any human notions to judge it. The next day, I taught them the five exercises. They had started their Dafa cultivation.
I often studied the Fa, did the exercises, and shared experiences with them. They progressed quite rapidly. The wife, especially, experienced a lot of big changes. Many of her age spots disappeared, and she looked radiant and much younger.
They told me that their daughter had been married for more than 10 years, and that they had stopped seeing her at least four years ago because she had married a man they didn't approve of. A few years after the couple married, their son-in-law got drunk and had a fight with the husband. After that, they drove their daughter and her husband out of the family. Their daughter blamed her father for the problem. However, the wife kept thinking about her daughter and grandson. She cried often and her health deteriorated--still, they could not forgive their son-in-law.
After practicing Falun Gong, they understood the karmic reasons behind feelings of love and hatred, and they looked inwards to find their own wrongdoings. They worked on their xinxing, and gradually lost their resentment toward their son-in-law. Out of the blue, their daughter called them one day to ask for their forgiveness. The old couple cried with great excitement, "Your mother and father also did wrong. Please forgive your parents." Now, the family is united again.
They said, "It's our benevolent Teacher who made our family whole again. Teacher said, 'with one person practicing, the whole family benefits' ("Teaching the Fa at the Fa Conference in Australia"). It was Teacher's Dafa that dissolved our resentment. It's Teacher who told us to look inward and to treat everything benevolently."
Their daughter then began to practice Falun Gong. They also clarify the truth to their friends and relatives and have persuaded many people to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
