Ten Pounds of Sweet Potatoes

Last winter on a fine and cloudless day I went to buy ten pounds of sweet potatoes, at five yuan per pound. At that time the person who sold me the potatoes gave me a broken plastic bag. To save other people trouble, I just carried them all tightly home.

When I got home I put them all on the ground, and found that this batch of sweet potatoes seemed larger than what I had bought. Because I don't have any scales at home, I went to find a neighbor to weigh them. He weighed them and said there were 20 pounds there. I said the person who sold them must have looked at the scales wrong, and messed up on the weight because there were many people buying sweet potatoes that day.

Because I am a Falun Dafa practitioner, I needed to give the money for the extra potatoes to the seller. My neighbor said: "He got it wrong himself, and he also doesn't know, so you don't need to give the money to him." I said: "I cultivate Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and I will give the money to him for sure."

I then went to the sweet potato seller and told him that he just gave the wrong amount of potatoes to me. He said: "How could it be mistaken? I've sold this whole big cart and no one has come to say I made a mistake." I told him he must have looked at the scales wrong, and that I bought ten pounds, but he gave me 20 pounds. I finished talking and gave him five yuan. He said "Thank you. Today, there are still some good people." I told him: "I cultivate Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and study Falun Dafa. It is my Master who says this is the way things should be done. Please remember 'Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,' and you will have a wonderful future."

He was very pleased, and happily nodded his head. When I got back, the neighbor said "You Falun Gong students have better thinking than the communist cadres. If everyone studied Falun Gong, there would be no more greedy officials."
