Spectators Say Splendor Offers Deep Insight into Chinese Culture and Builds Goodwill

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Jane Cooper works in sales in London and had a chance to see the Chinese New Year Splendor while visiting New York City for the holidays. The Splendor touched Jane in many ways. She said, "For someone like myself who is not up to date on the culture, it was wonderful. There is certainly enough in the show to bring you up to date about Chinese history."

Ms. Cooper's favorite part was the Erhu performance by Ms. Xiaoqun Qi, which moved her to tears. "I was very emotional. I thought the sound was just beautiful. It was a beautiful, moving piece of music."

After seeing the show, Jane said, "I feel closer to the whole of China and the Chinese culture." She said she would take what she learned from the show home with her. "People in the West have different ideas about how life is in China and that is because we don't take time to learn." She went on, "We should all be tolerant and help one another. We should act like this towards our neighbors, our friends and everyone around the world."

Gloria Rodriguez, an international mortgage broker, and Lionel Hevaa, in the real estate business, said, "We have traveled the world, and we have traveled to China, but we found the most beautiful part of it right here. It was lovely. The stories were beautiful. What we saw here was prettier and more elegant than what we saw in China. Honestly! What we saw here we have never seen before, anywhere, more beautiful than any other place."

A former State Senator said he thought the show was, "Very beautiful and very positive. There was a very good feeling in the music and the dance." He went on to say, "I think it is a very good thing. I think it will increase understanding. This show does a great deal to build goodwill between our cultures."

Merek Peiczora, a Psychiatric M.D. from Poland and Melisa Bond, an occupational therapist attended the performance of the Splendor at Radio City Music Hall on February 8.

Of interest to Mr. Peiczora was the obvious similarity between folklore of different cultures. "There is a lot of bravery, a lot of war, a lot of overcoming adversity. I think this highlights how folklore is similar throughout humanity, a lot of human commonality in it. It felt quite unifying."

Mr. Peiczora thought about the political aspects of China today in comparison to his native country of Poland. He explained, "I come from a background where my country was subjugated for many, many years by a communist regime. It made me realize that China is in a very similar situation today."
