(Clearwisdom.net) On February 6, 2008, the New York Times published an article in the Community Column that seemed irrationally critical of the NTDTV Chinese New Year Splendor. Nevertheless, the pace of ticket sales picked up and the show's final performances in New York played to full houses.

"The CCP Tries to Defame But Only Helps Promote the DPA"

Mr. Wang Xuetan, from Taiwan, works in the construction business. He watched the Divine Performing Arts' shows three times this year. He said, "The heavenly beauty and the cultivators' divine purity have attracted me to watch the show time and time again. I also brought my friends to watch. We enjoyed every minute of the divine performance and were deeply moved... My friends and I will come next year for sure and bring more people to experience the goodness." Asked about the New York Times article, Mr. Wang felt that perhaps the CCP was behind it, but that people can see through such things. He hoped the New York Times wouldn't risk its reputation by printing such things again.

Ms. Ye is originally from Chongqing City and had a 11-year dancing career in China, starting when she was young. She said rather quickly, "I danced in China and got tired of watching dances. Once when I was watching a show from China, I left in the middle and swore that I would not watch such boring shows ever again. I was not going to watch last year's Spectacular, but the Chinese Consulate tried so desperately to stop people from going, so I got curious. I found that it was so nice, and I did not want to miss any show from then on. This year, it seems they tried to interfere through the New York Times newspaper. So, this time, I brought even more friends. We all think the Divine Performing Arts shows are highly artistic, extremely beautiful, and moving, with profound meanings."

Ms. Azhen came from Indonesia in the 1960s. She watched the show with her friends. She said, "It is so beautiful! I loved each program, and I can never watch enough of them. I will definitely come next year. The most moving programs were those about Falun Gong. We were all in tears." When asked about the negative article, she said, "I know the CCP relies on deception. That article has been translated into Chinese and Indonesian. My friends asked me why the Chinese were so unfriendly to each other and why would they want to defame such a show that promotes Chinese traditions. They do not understand that the CCP came to this world to harm China, but they know that the article must have come under CCP influence. It is so negative, but it cannot do any great harm because people all know that whatever it opposes must be good."

"Divine Performing Arts Presents Incomparable Chinese Virtue"

Thomas is the owner of a finance firm, and he watched the show on the evening of February 8, 2008. He said, "The performance was unbelievably beautiful. The performers were all very talented and full of enthusiasm. They are very proud of their own culture. I loved every bit of the show. Each number is unique, with a different inner meaning and spirit." He also felt the Chinese people's loyalty to their faith and other outstanding virtues. "I admire the Chinese people's warm hearts, wisdom, creativity, and wonderful culture and history."

John is an electronic hardware design engineer. He and his wife Donna both thought the programs had profound inner meanings and were interesting and enlightening. "It was such a visual and spiritual enjoyment to watch the show for our family." Although they were surprised the persecution in China continues even today, they believe "The people must learn about this persecution. Good people should not be persecuted because of their faith." Donna said the show was an exciting surprise and helped her learn another side of the Chinese. "The Chinese pursue freedom and the divine so strongly. Despite being under all sorts of suppression, they do not give up in their divine path and truth. This is very moving!"
