Chinese Families in New York Celebrate the Lunar New Year by Watching the Divine Performing Arts (photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) On February 7, 2008, the first day of the Year of Rat, a line formed outside Radio City Music Hall well ahead of the start of the Chinese New Year Spectacular. Many Chinese families could be seen waiting to get in; some came with their grandparents.

Mr. Lin brought his whole family to the show

Mr. Lin came to New York from Fujian Province, China, a few years ago. He saw an ad for the show in Flushing and brought his whole family, including his six-month-old son. Mr Lin said he enjoyed the show very much and that he could not take his eyes off the stage.

He said, "I thought this show was fabulous. I liked every number. This is the first time I have ever seen it. We all liked it a lot." He continued, "The dances, the backdrops, the singing were all very spectacular. I particularly liked the 'Loyalty of Yue Fei' and 'The Power of Awareness.'"

His ten-year-old daughter said in perfect Mandarin, "I liked it very much, especially 'The Power of Awareness.'"

Another family from China, Mr. and Mrs. Ke, told the reporter that they thought the show was excellent and that every number was good. "The songs and dances were great. It was visually very pleasing. "

Mr. and Mrs. Jiang are from Guangzhou and live in Flushing. They bought tickets after they saw an advertisement. They said, "The show is excellent, very nice."

Wendy: "I loved everything about this show."

Wendy is a member of the Asian Club at a university on Long Island. As soon as she stepped out of the auditorium into the hall, she exclaimed, "I loved this show. I loved the costumes and I loved everything about this show, from the beginning to the end. It was excellent."

Tail Gil is a high school history teacher in Manhattan. She clapped enthusiastically for every number. She gave the performers a standing ovation at the end of the show. She marveled at the sheer beauty of the show. "All of the programs were excellent. I loved each and every one of them. Thanks to everyone!"
