Hebei Province Fourth Prison Personnel Commit Premeditated Murder of Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Yang Xiaojie (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) On January 26, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang
Xiaojie from Shijiazhuang City, an outstanding young man, was deliberately
murdered by the Fourth Prison of Hebei Province. For two years, his family
members put forth much effort through appeals, sending letters, making phone
calls and seeking the help of attorneys in order to obtain justice for him. Yang Xiaojie before his death Yang Xiaojie after he was tortured to death Mr. Yang Xiaojie originally worked for the Northern Office of Chinese
Youth Daily. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1996, after which both his
body and mind improved greatly, and he once received a sizable reward from his
employer. Because he persisted in practicing Falun Gong, he and his wife, Liu
Runlin, were arrested together in the Kaida residential area of Shijiazhuang
City, on the evening of September 28, 2001, and were brutally beaten. On
September 9, 2002, the couple were both sentenced to 11-year prison terms by the
judge of the Qiaoxiqu District Court, because they believed in Falun Gong and
they clarified the facts. Yang Xiaojie was imprisoned in the Fourth
Prison of Hebei Province. Ms. Liu Runling is currently imprisoned at the Women's
Prison of Hebei Province. When Mr. Yang first arrived at the Fourth Prison he was healthy. Prison
guards strictly monitored him year after year. He was often locked in a confined
cell and he was often tortured and generally mistreated. He was frequently
beaten and verbally abused, and was deprived of sleep for long periods of time.
The prison guards constantly pressured him in attempts to "transform"
him. This caused him to become mentally despondent for a long period of time.
The prison guards also instigated criminal inmates to frequently beat and
torture him. All these things led to the deterioration of Mr. Yang's health. He
suffered from sharp pains in his vertebrae for more than a year, was paralyzed
and had to stay in bed for more than three months, and was extremely emaciated
and weak. Yet the prison guards refused to let his family visit him, so as to
conceal his terrible condition and purposely delay his treatment, thus causing
him to miss treatment opportunities. The prison guards committed the crime of
premeditated murder. Mr. Yang Xiaojie's family tried to visit him for more than a year but were
not allowed to see him. When they took some quilts to the prison for him, they
learned by chance that he had been paralyzed in bed for a long time. The family
members, with great effort, went to the higher authorities and strongly
requested that Mr. Yang be released on bail for medical treatment. However, the
Fourth Prison personnel still tried to cover up and postpone his release for
another 12 days before they started processing the bail. He was finally released
on bail for medical treatment on December 28, 2005. The related personnel of the
Fourth Prison committed premeditated murder according to the Law and should take
relevant legal responsibility. Yang Xiaojie's family members recently hired a lawyer and filed
administrative litigation, trying to obtain justice for him. The administrative
department of the Fourth Prison in Hebei Province accepted the petition and said
that they would pay great attention to this case and investigate it seriously.
However, several days later they arrogantly claimed that their efforts to
"transform" Falun Gong practitioners were like "spring breeze and
drizzle" and it was impossible that Yang Xiaojie could have been beaten.
They also said that someone was "slandering" them by claiming that
they tortured Falun Gong practitioners to death and publishing it on the Minghui
website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net). They pretentiously said that they
would pursue litigation against the responsible person. On January 22, 2008, Yang Xiaojie's family went to the Fourth Prison again.
The administration section head, Yue Yuhai (a former deputy head of the
education section), with an arbitrary attitude, denied in front of Yang
Xiaojie's 70 year-old parents the fact that the guards had urged criminal
inmates to beat Yang Xiaojie. Yue Yuhai told the older parents to prove that
they were not allowed to see Yang Xiaojie for more than a year, and he
completely denied the fact of the prison's "no transformation no
visit" rule. He also said that Yang Xiaojie had cancer and that cancer does
not result from beatings. He said that Yang Xiaojie's death had nothing to do
with the prison. The photo serves as evidence: Mr. Yang Xiaojie was skin and bones. He was so
emaciated that since the spring of 2005, he looked deformed, and he only
weighted several dozen pounds. Why didn't the prison doctor provide prompt
treatment for him and why did the prison guards surreptitiously conceal his
condition from his family members? After the prison guards murdered him, they
threatened the lawyer by saying, "Don't be used by Falun Gong," in an
attempt to force the lawyer to withdraw. The prison guards intentionally
distorted the facts. Yang Xiaojie's 70 year-old parents went to the Fourth Prison every visitation
day, braving the severe cold weather and scorching summer heat, asking to see
their son and inquiring about his physical condition. They even begged the
guards to let them see their son just once, or even just let them listen to
their son's voice once through the prison phone. However, the guards not only
refused their requests, they even deceived the old couple by saying that Yang
Xiaojie was well and ate well, even as Yang Xiaojie was skin and bones and
paralyzed in bed. The prison guards now utterly deny the fact that they refused
to let the old couple see their son for more than a year. The guards indeed
behave like scoundrels! We are asking the concerned government bureaus to hold guards Wang Guobin,
Chen Xinguo, and Liu Ning of the Fourth Prison, along with the head of the
prison, Xiao Feng, responsible and bring them to justice according to the law.
They are the personnel directly responsible for the death of Yang Xiaojie. Related articles: http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2007/2/14/82675.html http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2006/5/20/73545.html February 7, 2008
