Being a True Cultivator

(Clearwisdom.net) I took up Falun Dafa cultivation in 1998, and consider being a Dafa practitioner to be my greatest honor. Many thanks to Master and to Minghui.net (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net) for the opportunity today to share my experience with all other practitioners.

Solid Cultivation is Following Teacher's Words

Studying the Fa well, learning it by heart, and doing what the Fa requires of us are actually following Teacher's words. Teacher wants us to study the Fa together, so we will have a good environment for Fa study as well as helping to upgrade practitioners' xinxing. So four years ago, I started a Fa study group at home. The attendance ranges from six to a dozen people or more.

Teacher has asked us to memorize the Fa. I have persisted with it for a year now, while eliminating all interference, and have now managed to memorize Zhuan Falun, and have recited it twice.

I took the initiative to co-ordinate the distribution of Dafa truth clarifying materials for six centers for the past three years. During this period, I constantly felt Teacher's presence, his great compassion and care. I also witnessed many miraculous manifestations. I was always in a pleasant mood whenever I left home on Dafa errands and was not bothered by the odd hours, the difficult surroundings, or police patrols. I only focused on what I set out to do.

Teacher wants more information materials distribution centers to be established all over. So, for a whole year, I devoted my time to learning how to sort and compile Dafa materials, and shared the responsibility of publishing the "Minghui Weekly."

From all these activities, I learned that the process of doing Dafa work is also a process of cultivation, a process that tempers the will, elevates our xinxing, helps us let go of attachments, and allows us to mature. In fact, so long as I have the heart to cultivate, Teacher will make the best arrangement for me. For example, recently, just when I was contemplating how to establish a home-based materials center, Minghui Weekly published an article on how to set it up. And when I was figuring out how to make a purchase, a practitioner at the local materials center was moving to another site, and there was no one locally to carry it on, so I inherited a ready-made system.

Strengthen Our Righteous Thoughts, Eliminate Our Fear, and Create an Environment for Cultivation

One of the faculties of a cultivator's mind is the ability to issue commands in his and all the corresponding dimensions. If righteous thoughts are lacking, that's equivalent to failure of the command system. The result is imaginable. It must be remembered that the divine power can only manifest through righteous thoughts, whereas "fear" is a deadly obstacle to exercising righteous thoughts. If this obstacle is not overcome, one's divine power will be suppressed. Therefore constantly keeping up with our righteous thoughts is crucial.

After July 20, 1999, the Chinese communist regime launched a bloody campaign to suppress Falun Dafa and Dafa practitioners, I sent out one strong righteous thought: "Regardless, I cannot be apprehended by the vicious people. They are not fit to touch me." With this one thought, I had numerous close encounters, but came through unscathed. Once I went out with a fellow practitioner to hang up posters. While attaching the poster to a wall, an officer suddenly appeared before me asking, "What poster are you putting up?" Without hesitation, I said, "It's to appeal for justice." The officer did not apprehend me and went on to read the poster. I left quickly on my bike.

Fear is a substance residing in one's mind. As long as this substance exists, people will have fear. When the persecution first started, my husband would not allow me to study the Fa, and only let me practice the exercises. Hence, I had to read the Dafa books secretly. I had retired, but he was still working. So, every day before he came home from work, I quickly put away the books. It was very tiring practicing cultivation this way. There was fear in me every time I started to read the Dafa books. Later, I came across Teacher's word that the thoughts of a practitioner are very important, and can bring about different results. One day, after preparing the meal and while waiting for him to return home, I sat down and started reading. He came back and saw me with the book, "I told you not to read that book and you are still reading it. I will have to tear up the book." I stood up calmly, looked him in the eye, and said, "If you dared touch my book, I would die in front of you."

As a Falun Dafa practitioner, I should not have said those words, but my determination stunned him. Ever since, I have read my Dafa books openly. This incident points out a very important issue. We create our own cultivation environment. Righteous thoughts play an important part in everything I do, whether at home or for the family. As my husband is not a practitioner, in everything I do I have to go through a process--from dealing with resistance to final acceptance. In fact, when Dafa practitioners elevate, their family members also elevate.
