Ms. Wei Rongdi from Benxi City, Liaoning Province Died as a Result of Torture and Delayed Treatment

(Clearwisdom.net) Wei Rongdi was 53 years old and employed by Benxi City Textile Factory. After she started Falun Gong practice in 1995, all the illnesses she previously had were healed.

After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, she clarified the truth about Falun Gong to people. She went to Beijing several times to appeal for Falun Gong and was persecuted for doing so.

In July 2000, police officers from Benxi City arrested Ms. Wei and sentenced her to three years of forced labor. She was imprisoned in the Fourth Team of the Second Division at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. The guards deprived her of sleep, forced her to squat for long periods of time, beat her, and subjected her to all kinds of tortures. She suffered even more severe tortures when the camp enacted the "Attack the Fortified" policy.

On April 26, 2007, Benxi City Police Department officials arrested more than 70 practitioners overnight. Ms. Wei was one of them. They took her to a hospital that evening for an examination. The doctors found a lump in her stomach, but the police did not show her the report or the x-ray results. They kept her in Dabailou Detention Center. In late May 2007, she was no longer able to eat and was very weak and extremely thin. The lump in her stomach grew larger. Due to her persistent requests, she was taken to the hospital again. The doctor said that surgery would be needed to remove the tumor, so the detention center officials had to release her on bail for medical treatment in June 2007.

Although she was released, the police never stopped harassing her. Due to the long-term torture and the delayed treatment, her physical condition deteriorated. Wei Rongdi died on February 17, 2008.
