(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 22 cities or counties in 12 provinces. In this report, 17 practitioners were subjected to brutal treatment during their detention and at least 29 practitioners were illegally arrested.

There have been multiple arrests of practitioners in Beijing since the beginning of 2008. On the evening of February 28, 2008, officers from Beijing Haidian District arrested Ms. Wang Huiling, Ms. Qu Ping, and Ms. Zhang Meng at their place of work. The practitioners' homes were also searched and their personal computers were confiscated.. The practitioners are imprisoned in Yongding Road Police Station in Haidian District.

Practitioners in many different cities of Liaoning Province were arrested on February 25, 2008. The cities included: Lingyuan, Jingzhou, Huludao, Chaoyang, Xingcheng, Suizhong, Panjin, and Jincheng. More than one hundred practitioners, including the family members who were visiting the imprisoned practitioners at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, were arrested. A dozen print shops were destroyed, and more than 200,000 yuan was confiscated. Police also confiscated printers, computers, and a large amount of printing supplies, valued at several hundred thousand yuan. It is said that the officers seized a dozen satellite dishes from one practitioner's residence in Jinzhou City.

Ms. Jia Yanfeng is a teacher at the Dongning County Secondary Middle School in Heilongjiang Province. She was arrested on January 6, 2005, and was released four months later on April 30, 2005. She has been suspended from her teaching position without pay for more than three years. The local 610 Office, education committee, and school administration coerced her into writing the Three Statements and giving up her belief on multiple occasions. Her husband could not stand the mental pressure and divorced her, abandoning their daughter. Ms. Jia and her daughter, a sixth grader, live a life of hardship.

At around 8 p.m. on February 27, 2008, practitioner Mr. Li Wei was arrested at home by five officers from the Ziyou Boulevard Police Station in Changchun City. Mr. Li was arrested very suddenly. Officers from Puyang Street Police Station who were stationed at the doorway of Mr. Li's home harassed his visitors by questioning them and demanding their phone numbers. Mr. Li was taken to the Changchu City Secondary Detention Center on the afternoon of February 29, 2008. He has been ill treated.

On the same afternoon that Ms. Sun Yuxia was arrested, officers from the Yangshu Town Police Station in Dehui City went to East Yangshu Sanjiazi Village and harassed Mr. Gao Deping at his home.

On February 21, 2008, officers from the Minhang District Police Station arrested Ms. Zhang Enmei, who lived in Shuiqing First Village, Xinzhuang Town, and Ms. He Meiyun, who lived in Qibao Town. The officers illegally searched their homes. The practitioners are imprisoned at the Minhang District Detention Center.

Practitioner Mr. Geng Jiandong is an employee of the Juyuan Machinery Limited Corp. in Yiyuan County, Zibo City. On the afternoon of February 27, 2008, officers from the 610 Office, the Police Department, and the National Security Section arrested Mr. Geng and searched his home.

At 5 a.m. on February 25, 2008, a truth clarification materials production site in Zhangwu County was destroyed. Ms. Xiong Suxiang was arrested and her cell phone and phone book were confiscated. At 6 p.m. on February 26, 2008, another site in Zhangwu County was destroyed. One practitioner escaped. Equipment and printing supplies were abandoned. The Chengbei Police Station, of Zhangwu County was responsible for the destruction.

On the afternoon of February 27, 2008, two practitioners were arrested by officers from the Chengnan Police Station, Yingcheng City. They are imprisoned at the Yingcheng City Secondary Detention Center.

Ms. Hu Yurong, 38, a native of Xinshi Township, Baocheng District, Qu County, was a teacher in Tibet. She was sentenced to five years in prison for practicing Falun Dafa and was released at the end of 2006. In 2007, her teaching career was unjustly terminated and she was taken back to Xinshi Township. Her husband divorced her and now she lives with her son. She was detained for 15 days because of an open letter she wrote about the termination of her employment. In October 2007, two dozen officers went to her home to arrest her, but she escaped. She was arrested two weeks later when she returned home and she was then sent to Tibet. On January 10, 2008, Ms. Hu went home for the Chinese New Year. On February 10, 2008, she was arrested by officers from the National Security Section and is detained at the Qu County Detention Center.

At around 11 a.m. on February 21, 2008, Yang Bingfeng, director of the National Security Section, Taihe County, led seven officers from the National Security Section and the Chengnan Police Station to arrest Ms. Liu Liying in her home. They also searched her house. The officers gained nothing from the search but she was detained at the Taihe County Detention Center. Four practitioners in Taihe County have been forced to leave their homes to avoid arrest.

Ms. Jin Chaihua is an employee of Hanchuan Mechine Tool Factory in Hanzhong City. She was reported to the police while she was clarifying the truth in Nanshahu Park on November 10, 2007. Ms. Jin was sentenced to one year of forced labor and is imprisoned in Chenggu Detention Center.

On the morning of February 29, 2008, Ms. Hu Huoying was arrested again by officers from the county police department. Ms. Hu has been imprisoned many times before. Her husband developed Alzheimer's from the mental stress he suffered because of her arrests and died in 2007.

On the evening of February 27, 2008, Ms. Guo Ling, a practitioner from Xiashan Town, Chaonan District, Shantou City, was arrested. Her home was ransacked and her computer was confiscated. Ms. Guo's whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Lu Binggen, Ms. Rong Aimei, and Ms. Jin Yulian, all in their 60s, are practitioners from Pingxiang City. On the afternoon of January 22, 2008, they were arrested and taken to Nanchang City. Their whereabouts are unknown.

At around 9 a.m. on February 28, 2008, when Ms. Wang Minghui and her daughter were passing by the Three Gorges Central Hospital in Chongqi, plainclothes police officers from the Wangjiang Road Police Station arrested both of them and took them to the Wangjiang Road Police Station. That same night, her daughter was released. Ms. Wang was taken to Zhoujiaba Detention Center.

Ms. Wang Minghui, 68 years old, lives at Wangpai Road, #158, Wanzhou District, Chongqi. In 2002, Ms. Wang was sentenced to forced labor for three years. In 2006, she was sentenced to forced labor for one and a half years.

At around 5 p.m. on February 29, 2008, State Security police officers broke into Mr. Shi Bang's home and arrested him. They also confiscated his computer, a printer, and a picture of the founder of Falun Gong.

On the afternoon of February 21, 2008, officials from the Suning County Broadcast Bureau Arresting Team and 610 Office and police officers from the Suning County Police Department and the local police station went to the homes of Ms. Ren Suzheng and Ms. Hao Guilan in Renzhuang Village, Fuzuo County; Ms. Huo Ruxian in Gezhuang Village; Ms. Xiaoqin, Ms. Xiunu, and Feng Ran in Dongda Village, Shisu County; and Mr. Yuan Wusheng in Shangcui Town to harass and threaten them. They also confiscated their satellite dishes.

Ms. Guan Yujing from Fuzhou City was released from Fujian Province Women's Prison a month ago after four years of detention.

On October 14, 2007, officials from the Ninghua County 610 Office arrested Ms. Zhang Yuqing, a practitioner from Ninghua County, Sanming City. Her home was ransacked and she was detained. On February 14, 2008, a secret trial was held without notifying her family. Currently, her family does not know the outcome of the trial. Ms. Zhang is being detained in the Ninghua County Detention Center.

In August 2004, Mr. Chen Lian, a practitioner from Guanghai City, was released from Xinhua Forced Labor Camp after serving two years. However, the officials from his workplace continued to persecute him. Although Mr. Chen is a good doctor and was recognized by the local people, he was forced to do janitorial work without pay. Work officials have colluded with officials from the local 610 Office to threaten him. Mr. Chen was forced to leave his home to avoid being persecuted.

On February 12, 2006, while Mr. Chen was clarifying the truth in Chengdu City where he worked, the police from Wukuaishi Police Station in Chengdu City arrested him and detained him in Chengdu City Detention Center. His family members were not allowed to visit him. His father and brother came twice to visit him and were not allowed to see him. They were not given any information about his condition. After a year of detention, the Jinniu District Court in Chengdu City sentenced him to three and half years in prison. Mr. Chen is being detained in the Wumaping Prison Forth Division in Leshan City, Sichuan Province.

On February 8, 2008, Ms. Sun Yuanqi from Pudong New District, Shanghai, went to visit her cousin. While she was distributing truth-clarification materials near her cousin's home, she was noticed and reported to the police. She is being detained in Sunqiao Detention Center.

At around 10 p.m. on February 27, 2008, the director of the Xinli Town Police Station in Yushu City and several police officers went to Ms. Su Lixia's home. They ransacked her home and confiscated Dafa VCDs and books, then arrested her. They took her to Yushu City Detention Center that same night.

At the beginning of June, 2007, while Ms. Yu Dexia and Ms. Sun Zhongyan, both from Xiejia Township,Yushu City, were distributing truth-clarification materials, they were reported to the authorities. The local police and villagers pushed them into a police car and beat them. They punched and kicked them, then pulled their hair. A large clump of hair was pulled out of Ms. Yu's head. Her face and cheeks were bruised and her chest hurt due to the beating. Both of them were taken to Yushu City Police Department State Security Division for interrogation. The police also went to Ms. Sun's home and confiscated her Dafa books.

The officials from the State Security Division took them to Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Changchui City, but the labor camp refused to accept them. The police officers extorted 5000 yuan from Ms. Yu's family, but Ms. Yu was still not released. Ms. Sun was later taken to Heizuizi Wome's Forced Labor Camp and is being detained in the 7^th Division.

On the morning of February 28, 2008, police from the Hangzhou Street Police Station in the Tanggu District, Tianjin, and police from the Tanggu District Police Department and the Tanggu District State Security Division broke into Ms. Xu Guomin's home. They ransacked the place and confiscated a computer, a printer, and Dafa books and materials. They arrested Ms. Xu and Mr. Xu Guoqiang, her second elder brother. Her husband is handicapped and is unable to take care of himself.

At around 6 a.m. on February 25, 2008, police from the Jinzhou City Police Department of Liaoning Province and the Shahe Town Police Station in Laizhou City arrested Mr. Qu Chengye. Mr. Qu is being detained in the Jinzhou City Detention Center.

Ms. Lu Xiuzhen, 61 years old, is a practitioner living in Dafule Village, Huairou District, Beijing. On February 28, 2008, the police arrested her and ransacked her home.
